Nov. 30, 2009
HOUSTON - For the second straight week, University of Houston senior guard Aubrey Coleman was honored as the Conference USA Player of the Week.
Coleman helped lead the Cougars to a 2-1 record and a third-place finish at the Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout last week. In three games, he averaged 22.7 points 7.3 rebounds and 4.0 steals per game to earn a place on the All-Tournament Team.
In the tournament opener, he led all players with 27 points and 11 rebounds for the 15th double-double of his career and scored 11 consecutive points during a 3:30 run that gave the Cougars the lead for good against No. 25 Oklahoma.
He added 25 points with seven rebounds in the tournament finale against host Alaska-Anchorage and posted 16 points with four rebounds and a game-high seven steals against San Diego.
It was the fourth time Coleman received the league's weekly honor during his career. A year ago, he was named the C-USA Rookie of the Week five times.
Marshall freshman center Hassan White was named the C-USA Rookie of the Week.
Following their game against the Islanders, the Cougars play host to Troy (Dec. 14), Mississippi State (Dec. 19), The Citadel (Dec. 21), TCU (Dec. 23) and Louisiana Tech (Dec. 29).
Single-game tickets and a variety of packages also are available now and can be purchased for as low as $35.
