HOUSTON -- The University of Houston Men's Basketball program will face a familiar rival this weekend when the Cougars play host to Arkansas at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, inside H&PE Arena in a game presented by Maintenance Supply Headquarters.

While this is the second straight year, these two teams will meet on the hardwood, it will be the first time since Feb. 7, 1991, that the Razorbacks have played the Cougars in Houston. A year ago, Arkansas claimed an 84-72 win in Fayetteville, Ark.

Both teams enter this weekend's game with 5-1 records. The Cougars are coming off a 75-66 win over New Orleans on Wednesday night in the middle of a season-long four-game homestand.

Against the Privateers, senior guard Rob Gray led all players with 23 points and set a career high with eight assists. The Forest City, N.C., native leads the Cougars and the American Athletic Conference with 23.6 points per game and ranks among the nation's top-12 leaders in both scoring and assist-turnover ratio.

Named to the Jerry West and John D. Wooden Award Watch Lists, Gray has recorded three 20-point games in 2017-18 while dishing out a team-high 23 assists with only four turnovers.

Senior guard Wes VanBeck ranks second on the team with 13.2 points per game, while senior forward Devin Davis stands third with 10.3 points per game but tops the Cougars with 7.3 rebounds per contest to rank sixth in the league.

With additional depth in the frontcourt this season, the Cougars have outrebounded their first six opponents to open the year and rank third in The American with a +9.5 rebounding margin. Houston has not outrebounded six straight opponents since the 2001-02 team did that in seven consecutive games on Dec. 2-30, 2001.
