The University of Houston men's basketball team will be looking for their first win of the 2002-03 season when the Cougars return home to play host to the UTEP Miners in a non-conference game on Wednesday, December 4 at 7:30 p.m. in Hofheinz Pavilion.
The Cougars enter the UTEP game with a 0-3 record after dropping a 62-60 last second loss against Baylor in the Space City Classic on November 30. Houston also suffered a 71-53 loss against inner-city rival Rice University in the inaugural battle for the Administaff Bayou Cup on November 27, and a 78-75 loss versus Prairie View A&M on November 23.
Meanwhile, UTEP enters Wednesday night's game with a 1-2 record after suffering an 83-60 loss against Texas Tech in El Paso. The Miners opened the season with a 75-66 victory over New Mexico Highlands on November 23 and suffered a 67-53 loss versus Alcorn State on November 26.
Following the UTEP game, Houston will play host to Texas-Arlington in a non-conference on December 7 at 1:00 p.m. in Hofheinz Pavilion before traveling to San Marcos, Texas for a game at Southwest Texas State on December 9.
