HOUSTON – After leading the University of Houston Men’s Basketball program to a pair of wins last week and a 5-0 start to the season, senior forward Devonta Pollard was honored Monday as the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week.
In wins against UT Rio Grande Valley and Murray State, Pollard nearly averaged a double-double with 19.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. The Porterville, Miss., native led all players with 24 points and 12 rebounds against UTRGV for his first double-double of the season and the seventh of his career.
He followed that with 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting with five rebounds, two assists and a game-high three steals against Murray State on Wednesday as the Cougars improved to 5-0. Houston is one of only 13 undefeated teams remaining nationally.

He is one of only three players to rank among the American Athletic Conference’s top-10 leaders in both scoring and rebounding.
