Cougar Men's Basketball Team Travels To Arizona For Regionally-Televised Game

Houston - The University of Houston men's basketball team will travel to Tucson, Ariz., and play the University of Arizona in a regionally-televised game on Fox Sports Net. The game tips off at 9:00 p.m. (CST) Sunday night and can be seen on Fox Sports Southwest.

The game can also be heard live on AM 790 "The Sports Animal" with Tom Franklin and Carl Dukes describing the action.

This marks Houston's first game since falling 102-84 at Virginia Commonwealth on Dec. 2 in Richmond, Va.

Robert McKiver is Houston's scoring leader and ranks second among Conference USA leaders with 24.3 points per game. Senior guard Oliver Lafayette also ranks fourth among C-USA leaders with a 19.2 avarage, and Robert Lee is ranked 15th with 13.2 points per contest.

Lee also ranks third anong C-USA rebounding leaders with an average of 8.7 rebounds per game. Jahmar Thorpe is averaging 7.8 rebounds per game and ranks sixth among C-USA leaders. He also ranks third in field goal percentage with 64.3 percent (27-42).

Arizona enters the game with a 7-1 record and the Wildcats are ranked No. 10 in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll and No. 11 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll.

Arizona has won seven straight games by an average of 17.1 points per game after opening the season with a loss at Virginia. Last week, ESPNâ?TMs Dick Vitale named Arizona as his team of the week following impressive wins over Louisville in the Jimmy V. Classic in New York and at San Diego State.

Sunday night's game is the ninth meeting of the two schools with the Cougars holding a 5-3 series advantage after UH claimed a 69-65 win on Dec. 3, 2005, in Hofheinz Pavilion. The Cougars are 1-2 in games played at Tucson.

Following the Arizona game, Houston travels to the Rainbow Classic and plays former Conference USA member Charlotte in the first round on Dec. 21 at 9:00 p.m. (CST).
