HOUSTON - Two days after helping lead the University of Houston Men's Basketball team to a dominating win, forward Danuel House was honored Monday afternoon as the Conference USA Freshman of the Week.

House scored a career-high 22 points with four 3-pointers and six rebounds in Houston's 85-73 win against Louisiana-Lafayette last weekend in Hofheinz Pavilion. Battling cold symptoms for much of the week, the Sugar Land, Texas, native shook off the illness to post career highs in points, field goals, field goal attempts, 3-point field goals and 3-point field goal attempts.

He electrified the Cougar fans in attendance quickly, scoring 16 of his points with all four treys in the first half.

This season, House ranks third on the Cougars with 11.9 points per game and stands 23rd in the league with that total. This was the first weekly honor of his career.

UCF's Keith Clanton was named the C-USA Player of the Week.

House and his Cougar teammates continue their season-long homestand when they meet Chicago State at 3 p.m., Saturday, inside Hofheinz Pavilion. From there, the stand continues against Prairie View A&M (3 p.m., Dec. 29); Texas-Pan American (7 p.m., Jan. 3) and Conference USA-rival SMU (7 p.m., Jan. 9).
