HOUSTON - The University of Houston Men's Basketball program wraps up its season-long, five-game homestand at 1 p.m., Saturday, when it plays host to South Carolina State inside Hofheinz Pavilion in the final game of the Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic Regional Round.
The Cougars (5-2) enter this weekend's contest on the heels of a surprising 61-56 loss in overtime to Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Wednesday night, snapping their three-game winning streak.
Against the Golden Lions, junior guard Jherrod Stiggers led the way with 16 points, while junior guard LeRon Barnes added 14 points with 12 rebounds to set personal bests in each category and regain the American Athletic Conference lead with 8.1 rebounds per game.
Barnes isn't the Cougars' only league leader in the latest statistical rankings. Stiggers tops the conference and ranks 12th nationally with 3.6 3-pointers per game, while junior forward Devonta Pollard is tops with 1.9 steals and 3.3 offensive rebounds per game.
Saturday's game will be the first time that Houston has faced South Carolina State in Men's Basketball.
