Houston - The University of Houston men's basketball team has been selected this week's CSTV Glass Sneaker Team of the Week after beginning the season with a 10-1 record before the Christmas Holidays.

CSTV columnist David Scott pointed out that "Tom Penders has the Cougars one basket shy of being 11-0 this season."

Houston returns from an 11-day Holiday break when UH plays host to Arkansas-Pine Bluff this Saturday night, Dec. 29, at 7:05 p.m. in Hofheinz Pavilion. The Cougars enter the game having won their last nine games and last 11 home games dating back to last season. Houston beat Kentucky 83-69 in its last home game on Dec. 18.

Following the Arkansas-Pine Bluff contest, the Cougars will have three of their games nationally televised by CSTV during the month of January. The first will be Jan. 2 when the Cougars open the New Year at UMASS. The Cougars also will play on CSTV against UTEP on Jan. 19 and against Memphis on Jan. 30.

Robert McKiver is averaging 20 points a game, and the Cougars are plus-15 in scoring margin and shooting 38 percent from behind the arc. Lanny Smith is averaging 4.6 assists per game, while Dion Dowell has chipped in with 14.4 points per game.
