HOUSTON - For the third time this season, University of Houston senior guard Aubrey Coleman was honored Monday as the Conference USA Player of the Week.
The Houston native helped lead the Cougars to wins against The Citadel and TCU, averaging 29.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.0 steals per game.
He posted 33 points against TCU to help lead Houston to a 105-81 win against the Horned Frogs, UH's most points against TCU since February 1977, and recorded the sixth 30-point game of his career, eighth most in school history.
Earlier in the week, he finished with a game-high 26 points and 10 rebounds against The Citadel for his third double-double this season and the 16th of his career.
It was his fifth C-USA Player of the Week honor during his career. Coleman also was named the league's Rookie of the Week five times during the 2008-09 season.
No other player has won more than one C-USA Player of the Week honor in 2009-10.
UAB's Jamarr Sanders was named the C-USA Rookie of the Week.
Coleman and his Cougar teammates wrap up a month-long home stand when they play host to Louisiana Tech at 7 p.m., Tuesday, inside Hofheinz Pavilion. The Cougars have played the entire month of December at home, posting a 4-1 record during that stretch.
From there, the team hits the road for a three-game road swing. The Cougars meet UTSA at 1 p.m., Friday, inside the UTSA Convocation Center and then travel to Ames, Iowa, to face Big 12 Conference member Iowa State at 1 p.m., Sunday.
The team returns to Houston but travels to meet Conference USA-rival Rice at 8 p.m., Jan. 6 in the C-USA opener for both teams at Tudor Fieldhouse.
