Houston - The University of Houston men's basketball team returns from an 11-day Holiday break when UH plays host to Arkansas-Pine Bluff this Saturday night, Dec. 29, at 7:05 p.m. in Hofheinz Pavilion.
The Cougars enter the game with a nine-game winning streak and boast a 10-1 overall record this season. Houston has won its last 11 home games dating back to last season. The Cougars are 8-0 in home games this year after posting an 83-69 victory over Kentucky in its last home game on Dec. 18.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff is 4-6 this season after winning three of its last four games. The Golden Lions had won its third straight contest 61-49 at Louisiana Tech before suffering a 64-37 loss at Texas A&M.
The Series With Arkansas-Pine Bluff
Houston plays Arkansas-Pine Bluff for the third time, but it is the first time the two schools have met since 1997-98 when the Cougars won 77-55 on Nov. 18, 1997. The Golden Lions handed UH a 66-64 loss in the first game of the series on Nov. 23, 1996.
Cougars Receive Votes In Latest AP Poll
Houston received four votes in the latest Associated Press media poll. It is the second time the Cougars have received votes this season. Houston received one vote in the AP preseason poll. The last time Houston was in the AP Top 25 poll was Dec. 12, 2005 when the Cougars were ranked 25th.
Following the Arkansas-Pine Bluff contest, the Cougars will open the New Year with their first road game of the season when Houston travels to UMass for a nationally televised game on January 2. That game tips off at 6:00 p.m. (central) on CSTV.
