B.B. Waldon and Altron Jackson combined for 43 points and eight steals to lead South Florida to a 93-68 victory over Houston in men's basketball action at Hofheinz Pavilion on Saturday, January 27.
The Cougars opened the game shooting just 27 percent from the field and had 15 turnovers in the first half as South Florida raced out to a 54-25 lead at halftime. In the second half, Houston tried to battle back on three separate occasions, but the Bulls held off the Cougars rally.
Patrick Okafor led Houston with a career-high 19 points and 13 rebounds to record his fifth double-double performance of the season. Dominic Smith added 12 points and George Williams scored 10 for the Cougars, but it was not enough to offset Waldon and Jackson's performance.
Jackson led all scorers with 22 points off South Florida's bench, while Waldon added 21 points and seven rebounds for the Bulls.
The loss dropped Houston's record to 4-14 overall this season and 1-5 in Conference USA play.
The Cougars will play next Wednesday night at Alabama-Birmingham.
