Entering its first season with head coach Tom Herman at the helm, Houston was picked to finish second in the west division in the 2015 American Athletic Conference preseason poll by media from across the league.
Houston received 10 first-place votes for the west division, and finished just four points behind 2014 American champion Memphis, who received 13 first-place votes, and who the Cougars defeated 28-24 last season in Memphis. The loss was Memphis' lone home loss of the season and its lone conference loss of 2014, extending Houston's winning streak in the series to five games. Houston Football's Tom Herman, Cameron Malveaux, Kenneth Farrow and Adrian McDonald traveled to Newport, R.I. to represent #HTownTakeover. On Monday, the four participated in photoshoots by ESPN and The American as well as taped several preseason segments for various media outlets. The night ended with the famous New England clambake as the Houston representatives enjoyed plates of lobster.
Houston Football fans will have the opportunity to follow the #AmericanKickoff: Media Days via Houston's social media realms, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Fans can watch live coverage of Tuesday's Coaches panels by visiting theamerican.org/Watch. The ADN will also be producing original video pieces from the event as well as interviews with players and coaches that will appear on its digital channels throughout the football season.
Coaches and players from the 12 American Athletic Conference schools will head to the Hyatt Regency in Newport, Rhode Island, Aug. 3-4 for the league's Summer Kickoff and Media Days.
The festivities will begin Monday as media members and bowl partners enjoy a day of golf at Newport National Golf Club. Coaches and student-athletes will spend the afternoon with television and other media entities before the night's main event; the annual New England-style clambake. Fans will be able to follow all of the day's events through a broad range of coverage online as well as on social media using the #AmericanKickoff hashtag.
Coverage will begin Tuesday morning with a live video feed of commissioner Mike Aresco's opening remarks at 9 a.m. ET followed by roundtable discussions with the 12 head coaches. All six coaches from the West Division will kick things off at 9:45 a.m. ET followed by the East Division at 11:15 a.m. ET. The entire morning session will be streamed live on The American Digital Network free of charge.
Houston Football will send four representatives to Newport, R.I. to represent the Cougars at the #AmericanKickoff: Media Days on Aug. 3-4.
Joining Head Coach Tom Herman will be senior running back Kenneth Farrow, senior defensive back Adrian McDonald and junior defensive end Cameron Malveaux.
All three student-athletes will have the opportunity to speak to national media and the American Athletic Conference over the two-day event.
