Versatile defender who has played all four spots in the secondary... heads into the fall as the starter at free safety... began his career as a free safety before switching to cornerback as a junior... always seems to be around the ball... solid run stopper and big hitter over the middle... could contest for national honors.
JUNIOR (2007)
One of 12 players to start all 13 games... Team leader with four interceptions... Recorded at least 10 tackles in three straight games against C-USA rivals Marshall, Tulsa and SMU... Tallied three solo tackles and a pass breakup during the season opener at Oregon... Recorded three tackles and broke up two passes at Conference USA rival Tulane... Also picked off a pass against the Green Wave... Recorded five tackles, including a pair of solo stops, against Colorado State during the home opener... Tied the game at 24-24 late in the third quarter after scooping up a fumble and racing 37 yards to the end zone for his first collegiate score... Recorded six tackles against C-USA rival East Carolina... Posted five tackles, including three solo stops, at Alabama... Broke up two passes against Rice... Posted a solo tackle and returned an interception 12 yards at UAB... Finished with four tackles, including three solo stops, and added one tackle for a loss of four yards at UTEP... Led the Cougars with 10 tackles, including three solo, with a 7-yard interception return against SMU... Also recovered a fumble and broke up a pass against the Mustangs... SOPHOMORE (2006)
One of only 10 players to start all 14 games, setting a UH single-season record... named All-Conference USA Honorable Mention by the head coaches... versatile defensive back who started 11 games at cornerback, two games at strong safety and one at free safety... ranked fifth on the team with 72 tackles but finished second with 56 solo stops... second on team with 13 pass breakups... posted five tackles, including two solo stops, against Tulane during the home opener... recorded two tackles and a pass breakup against Grambling State... made three tackles, including two solo, and forced a fumble against Oklahoma State... topped all Cougar defenders with 12 tackles, including 10 solo stops, at Miami (Fla.)... led all players with 18 tackles, including 15 solo stops, against ULL... total was the most tackles by any player in the all-time series against the Cajuns... also broke up a pass against the Cajuns... recorded three solo tackles and a pair of pass breakups at Southern Miss... finished with four tackles, including three solo, and broke up two passes against UTEP... made eight tackles, including seven solo, against UCF... led the team with three pass breakups and added a solo tackle against Tulsa... posted three tackles, including two solo, with a pass breakup and added one tackle for a loss of a yard at SMU to help the Cougars clinch the C-USA West Division. C-USA Championship Game: Recorded five tackles, including three solo, and added a pass breakup against Southern Miss. AutoZone Liberty Bowl: Registered eight tackles and one pass breakup against South Carolina.
REDSHIRT FRESHMAN (2005)
Appeared in all 12 games with starts in each of the last 10 contests... led the team with four interceptions during his first collegiate season... ranked fourth among all defenders with 76 tackles, including 42 solo stops... stopped a Sam Houston State drive with a 15-yard interception return late in the first half during the Robertson Stadium opener... was the first pickoff of his career... recorded six tackles with four solo stops at UTEP in the C-USA opener... finished with seven tackles, including five solo stops, in the win at Tulsa... made the play of the game on the Cougar 5-yard line with about a minute remaining in the game, stopping All-America tight end Garrett Mills, stripping the ball and recovering the fumble to seal the win... posted seven tackles, including a pair of solo stops, against Tulane... recorded seven tackles with five solo stops against Memphis... posted three tackles with a pass breakup at Mississippi State... finished second on the team with 12 tackles, including eight solo, at C-USA rival UCF... also added an interception against the Golden Knights... finished with nine tackles, including four solo against Southern Miss... stopped a Golden Eagle drive with an interception midway through the fourth quarter... led the team with 10 tackles, including five solo stops, and added a 1-yard interception against Rice during the regular-season finale. Fort Worth Bowl: Tied Rocky Schwartz for the team-lead with eight tackles against Kansas.
