Joaquin Garcia joined the Houston Football program as special teams quality control in August 2012 before moving to football analyst in 2015.
Garcia, a Katy, Texas, native joined the Cougars after spending the previous six years at Katy High (2006-12). There, he worked with the defensive backs, outside linebackers and special teams units. During his tenure, he helped lead the team to three appearances in the 5A Division II state championship game, including a pair of titles.
He also served coaching stints at Deer Park High (2005-06), Westbury High (2004-05) and Quail Valley Middle (2003-04).
Before entering the coaching ranks, Garcia was an award-winning student-athlete. He was a three-year letterman at cornerback for Katy High, helping lead the team to the Class 5A Division I state championship while serving as team captain.
Following his high school graduation, he lettered for two seasons at Texas Lutheran at cornerback before transferring to Texas Tech.
Garcia received his bachelor's degree in business administration/management information systems and general business in May 2003 and earned his master's degree in educational administration from Lamar in 2011.
He is single and lives in Houston.
