Matt Mattox
Former Houston standout offensive lineman Matt Mattox begins his first season as the offensive graduate assistant in 2006. Since graduating from the University of Houston, Mattox had served two years in as an Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Cougar Football program. Mattox played two seasons for the Cougars and was named Second Team, All-Conference USA on the offensive line as a senior in 2003. He was one of only nine players and only two offensive linemen to start all 13 games and was a regular for the Cougars at right tackle. Mattox helped lead the offense to 458.31 yards and 34.5 points per game, as the total offense was 12th nationally and point production was 16th The offensive line also helped generate 215.5 yards on the ground, which was the nation's 12th-best output, and the Mattox-led unit helped offense top 500 yards of total offense six times and over 400 yards 10 of 13 games. The offense also topped 40 points seven times, including the final three games of the year As a junior in 2002, appeared in all 12 games and made five starts as a tight end. He recorded five receptions for 43 yards during the season and recovered a Cougar fumble in the endzone at Memphis for his first collegiate score. That year he graded out at 93 percent as a blocker. Prior to Houston, Mattox was a Second Team, NJCAA All-American at Butler County Community College and was voted 11th best player in region regardless of position. He also picked up First-Team, All-Jayhawk Conference and All-Region and had three catches for 29 yards. Mattox is single and resides in Houston. |
