Wesley Nurse enters his third season as the defensive quality control assistant at the University of Houston.
Before coming to Houston, Nurse worked as an assistant coach under head coach Kevin Higgins at the Military College of South Carolina in Charleston, S.C. Nurse coached the defensive line, safeties and outside linebackers and also guided defensive end Trevar Broughton to an All-Southern Conference honor.
He spent the 2004 football season as the defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach at Capital High School in Boise. He helped coach the Eagles to a conference title and a spot in the semifinals of the state tournament. Three of his players were named to the All-State team.
Nurse spent two seasons as the defensive graduate assistant at Boise State, working with the defensive backs and linebackers.
As a player at Boise State from 2002 to 2003, Nurse earned First-Team All-WAC honors as a senior and Second-Team All-WAC accolades as a junior in 2002. He finished his career with 294 tackles (13th most in school history) and 10 interceptions.
He graduated from Boise State in August 2004 with a bachelor's degree in business marketing.
Nurse and his wife Valarie have a son, Jaiden. The family lives in Houston.
