Brian Odom begins his third season as the school's Co-Director of Sports Performance. Odom, who played collegiate football at the University of Oklahoma and Southeast Oklahoma State, has spent the last seven years as the University of Arizona's Associate Director of Performance Enhancement.

Odom will share Director of Sports Performance responsibilities with Kelly Spriggs and brings seven years of sports performance development to UH. The Ada, Okla., native will work closely with the University of Houston Football program and carries tremendous experience working with a variety of sports programs. Odom worked closely with the Wildcat football team during his time in Tucson, Ariz., and also oversaw the development of the Wildcats' women's basketball program in the winters.

"I'm excited to have Brian join our staff and there is no question his experiences in strength and conditioning and as a football player will pay immediate dividends for our student-athletes," Head Coach Tony Levine said. "Brian is talented young coach that fits our culture here at Houston and we are excited to have him join our program."

Odom joined the Arizona staff in July 2005 and immediately assisted with football, as well as with other UA student-athlete strength programs during his first 18 months in Tucson. He was promoted to the associate director of performance enhancement in January 2007.

"I certainly appreciate Mack Rhoades and Coach Levine giving me and my family this opportunity," Odom said. "It goes without saying that I have a tremendous amount of respect for the University of Houston and I am excited to work with our student-athletes to get them prepared for competition at a championship level."

Odom began his career as a football graduate assistant at Missouri in January 2005. As a player, Odom won the Oklahoma Football Iron Man Award for his performance in the weight room. The Sooners claimed the BCS National Championship that season. He lettered for OU in 2001 and completed his career as a three-year starter at tailback (2002-04) for Southeastern Oklahoma State, where he earned first-team All-Lone Star Conference honors and his degree in December 2004.

Odom and his wife, Mackenzie, have a son, Benjamin.
