2005 Conference USA All-Freshmen Team
One of only a handful of players in school history to compete in four bowl games during their careers.
Appeared in all 13 games with starts against Conference USA rivals UTEP and Rice during the final two games of the regular season and against Air Force during the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl... posted nine tackles, including five solo stops, against Air Force in Dallas... finished with one tackle for a loss of a yard and forced a fumble at No. 23 East Carolina... posted five tackles, including 1.5 stops for a loss of five yards, at C-USA rival Marshall... recorded four tackles, including an assist for a loss of a yard, and broke up a pass against C-USA rival Tulane during the annual Homecoming game... assisted on a tackle and recovered a fumble against No. 24 Tulsa... posted seven tackles, including three solo stops, and finished with 3.5 tackles for a loss of 10 yards against C-USA rival UTEP. Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl: Recorded nine tackles, including eight solo, with with two tackles for a loss of six yards against Air Force.
Appeared in each of the first 11 games... recorded two tackles, including two solo, during the season opener at Oregon... added two tackles for a loss of four yards against the Ducks... posted four tackles, including two solo stops, with two pass breakups and a tackle for a loss of a yard during the home opener against Colorado State... finished with an assisted tackle for a loss of a yard against Rice... recorded an assisted tackle for a loss of two yards at C-USA rival UAB... tallied six tackles, including five solo stops, at UTEP. Texas Bowl: Made first start of season against TCU... Posted eight tackles, including six solo stops, against the Horned Frogs.
Competed in all but two games... posted four tackles, including two solo, against Oklahoma State... returned to the starting lineup against UTEP after suffering a leg injury at Miami (Fla.)... finished with three tackles, including one for a loss, and added two quarterback pressures against the Miners... made five tackles, including three solo, at SMU to help the Cougars clinch the C-USA West Division. C-USA Championship Game: Made three tackles, including one for a loss of a yard, against Southern Miss. AutoZone Liberty Bowl: Finished with six tackles, including five solo, and added a 6-yard sack against South Carolina.
REDSHIRT FRESHMAN (2005)
Competed in all 12 games with seven starts, including five straight late in the season... tied for the team lead with four sacks... recorded three tackles during his first game as a Cougar against Oregon in the season opener... made his first career start at UTEP during the C-USA opener... finished with three tackles and a pass breakup at UTEP in the C-USA opener... recorded three solo tackles with a 9-yard sack and recovered a fumble against Tulane... made six tackles, including three sacks for 10 yards at Mississippi State... finished with seven tackles against SMU. Fort Worth Bowl: led all UH defensive linemen with five tackles (including four solo) against Kansas... also recorded one TFL.
Sat out as a redshirt.
