LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - Kevin Kolb ran for 92 yards and threw a touchdown as Houston beat Louisiana-Lafayette 21-14 on Saturday night.

Kolb connected with Brandon Middleton on a 62-yard pass with 10:13 left in the third as Houston (2-1) led 14-7. For the game, he was 8-of-18 with one interception for 157 yards.

The Cougars scored next on a 12-yard run by Jackie Battle, capping a 7-play 41-yard drive with 5:30 left in the third. In the second, Battle scored on a 4-yard run. For the game, he netted 84 yards on 15 carries.

With 14:39 left in the fourth quarter, Louisiana-Lafayette (0-3) came back with a 2-yard TD plunge into the end zone by Dwight Lindon to make it 21:14.

Jerry Babb hit 5-of-22 passes for 57 yards for the Ragin' Cajuns. He was sacked twice.
