2007 Houston Cougars Football Postgame Notes
Houston Cougars (1-1, 1-0 C-USA) at Tulane Green Wave (0-2, 0-1 C-USA)

** With Saturday's win, the Cougars won their school-record sixth consecutive Conference USA game... It topped the previous long of five straight league wins from Nov. 2, 1996 to Nov. 1, 1997... The school record for consecutive conference wins was set by the 1989 and 1990 Cougar teams, which won 11 straight games from Nov. 4, 1989 to Nov. 10, 1990.
** The Cougars improved to 9-4 (.692) all-time against Tulane... The Cougars also extended their winning streak over Tulane to five straight games... Houston has not lost to Tulane since a 34-13 setback at Robertson Stadium in Houston on Sept. 7, 2002.
** Saturday's game was the first time since 2003 that the Cougars faced Tulane in New Orleans... The two teams met at Cajun Field in Lafayette, La., in 2003 due to Hurricane Katrina... It also was the first time since 2000 that the two teams squared off in the Louisiana Superdome.
** The Cougars improved to 5-0 when playing on Sept. 15.
** The Cougars improved to 77-86-4 (.473) during the month of September.
** The Cougars improved to 21-11 (.656) all-time against teams from the state of Louisiana.
** The Cougars improved to 82-65-1 (.557) all-time against current teams in Conference USA.
** The Cougars improved to 30-14-1 (.678) all-time in conference openers... The Cougars improved to 8-4 (.667) all-time in Conference USA openers and won for the second straight season and the fourth time in the last five seasons... Only a 44-41 loss at UTEP in double overtime on Sept. 16, 2005 prevented a longer Cougar streak.
** The Cougars improved to 119-65-4 (.644) all-time in domed stadiums... The Cougars also snapped a six-game losing streak in domed stadiums... Prior to Saturday's game, the Cougars had not won in a domed stadium since a 45-43 win over Minnesota on Sept. 27, 1997, in the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome... Saturday's game was the Cougars' first game in a domed stadium since a 38-24 loss to Oregon on Sept. 1, 2005, at Reliant Stadium in Houston.
** With 505 yards of total offense (304 pass, 201 rush), the Cougars recorded at least 400 yards of total offense for the 36th time during head coach Art Briles' tenure... It also marked the third straight game dating back to the 2006 AutoZone Liberty Bowl and the 17th time since 2003 that the Cougars racked up at least 500 yards of total offense.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES ** Senior running back Anthony Alridge recorded a rushing touchdown and a receiving touchdown for the second straight game to open the 2007 season... No Houston player has accomplished that feat since at least the 1995 season, according to the best UH records available as of Saturday night.. Further research by the UH Sports Information Office will confirm the last time a Cougar player accomplished that feat early next week.
** With a game-high 103 receiving yards, senior wide receiver Donnie Avery fifth 100-yard receiving game of his career... The Cougars improved to 1-4 (.200) during games in which Avery reaches triple digits.
** With 185 passing yards, redshirt freshman quarterback Case Keenum set a single-game high, topping his previous best of 179 yards at Oregon on Sept. 1, 2007.
** With 113 passing yards, sophomore quarterback Blake Joseph set a single-game high, topping his previous best of 51 yards at Oregon on Sept. 1, 2007... Joseph also recorded the first touchdown passes of his career and his first multi-touchdown game.
** Redshirt freshman wide receiver Teric Williams' 27-yard touchdown reception around the 6:40 mark of the second quarter was the first touchdown of his career... It also was the first career touchdown pass for sophomore quarterback Blake Joseph.
** With 38 receiving yards, redshirt freshman wide receiver Teric Williams set a single-game high, topping his previous best of eight yards at Oregon on Sept. 1, 2007... Williams also tied his single-game best of two catches against the Ducks.
** With 82 rushing yards, freshman running back Terrance Ganaway set a single-game high, topping his previous best of 23 yards at Oregon on Sept. 1, 2007.
** Wide receiver Jeron Harvey attempted and completed his first career pass around the 12:52 mark of the first quarter.
** Junior linebacker Cody Lubojasky's interception around the 6:00 mark of the first quarter was the first pickoff of his career.
** With two field goals, senior kicker T.J. Lawrence recorded his second straight multi-field goal game.
** First Games: Sophomore cornerback Carson Blackmon competed during his first game of the 2007 season... Redshirt freshman cornerback Jamal Robinson competed in the first game of his collegiate career.
