** Cougars saw their two-game winning streak against Memphis at the Liberty Bowl snapped... That streak dated back to the Cougars' 33-30 win in triple overtime on Oct. 21, 2000.
** With his interception at the 10:39 mark of the first quarter, cornerback Willie Gaston recorded his first interception of the 2004 season and the second pickoff of his career.
** Cornerback Willie Gaston recorded his second interception of the game and his first career interception return for a touchdown at the 10:36 mark of the third quarter... It was the first multi-interception game of his career.
** Cornerback Willie Gaston became the first player since Jason Parker against Cincinnati (35 yards) on Oct 20, 2001 to return an interception for a touchdown... That covered a span of 34 consecutive games.
** With his 75-yard interception return for a touchdown, cornerback Willie Gaston recorded the sixth-longest interception return in school history... It topped the mark of 72 yards set by Carl Mittag against Hardin-Simmons on Oct. 22, 1949 and trailed the mark of 76 yards set by Pat Studstill against Wichita State on Oct 11, 1953.
** Cornerback Willie Gaston became the first player since Will Gulley at East Carolina on Sept. 20, 2003, to record two interceptions in one game.
** With 131 receiving yards, wide receiver Vincent Marshall recorded his second 100-yard receiving day in 2004 and the fourth of his young career.
** With 262 rushing yards, Memphis running back DeAngelo Williams set a new single-game rushing record by a Cougar opponent... His total topped the previous single-game best of 246 rushing yards (21 carries) by LSU's Kevin Fauk on Sept. 7, 1996
** CONSECUTIVE STARTS STREAKS: Defensive tackle Kade Lane made his 29th consecutive start, dating back to Aug. 31, 2002, against Rice at Rice Stadium.
** FIRST STARTS: Senior fullback Carl Francis made his first career start at fullback.
