Final Stats

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - LaTarence Dunbar returned a kickoff for a touchdown and Kenneth Hilliard added an interception return for a score as TCU beat Houston 34-17 on Saturday.

Dunbar returned the opening kickoff of the second half 96 yards to break a 10-10 halftime tie. It was Dunbar's third career kickoff return for a score.

On the next possession, Hilliard intercepted a Nick Eddy pass and returned it 43 yards for a touchdown.

TCU (4-1, 1-1 Conference USA) won its fourth consecutive game and fifth straight against Houston.

The Cougars (2-3, 0-2) lost their 14th straight conference game.

TCU forced five Houston turnovers, including three in the third quarter, and have forced 19 this season.

Following Hilliard's interception, Houston made it 24-17 when Eddy threw an 11-yard TD pass to Chris Robertson. Robertson was playing for the first time since injuring his knee in spring practice.

But on Houston's next possession, TCU's Jared Smitherman recovered a Tim Feathers' fumble at the Cougars 33.

The Horned Frogs capped their 21-point third quarter three plays later on Tye Gunn's 10-yard touchdown.

Nick Browne added a 17-yard field goal in the fourth quarter.

Gunn, making his first start at quarterback in place of the injured Sean Stilley, completed 15 of 26 passes for 172 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for 63 yards and a score.

Eddy made his first start of the season after Barrick Nealy was lost for the year with a knee injury two weeks ago against No. 2 Texas. He completed 18 of 43 passes for 217 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions.

Browne booted a 38-yarder field goal to give the Horned Frogs a 3-0 lead. Houston took a 7-3 advantage on Eddy's 27-yard touchdown pass to KeyKowa Bell.

TCU took the lead back early in the second quarter on Gunn's 3-yard scoring pass to Cody McCarty. Dustin Bell's 20-yard field goal tied the game at 10 with 5:28 left in the first half.
