HOUSTON (AP) - Nick Eddy threw three touchdown passes and Chris Robertson ran for three scores as Houston snapped a 14-game Conference-USA losing streak with a 56-42 victory over Army on Saturday.

Eddy completed 18 of 24 passes for 266 yards and threw two touchdowns to Stephen Cucci and one to KeyKowa Bell for the Cougars (3-4, 1-3 in C-USA).

The win gives Houston its first victory in league play since beating Memphis in three overtimes on Oct. 21, 2000.

Army (0-7,0-5) has lost 19 straight on the road.

Houston's Joffrey Reynolds rushed for 197 yards on 29 carries and had touchdown runs of 18 and 10 yards to help spoil an outstanding game from Army's Zac Dahman, who completed 17 of 33 passes for 353 yards and four touchdowns.

Dahman is the first Army quarterback to pass for 300 yards since Joe Gerena passed for 305 against Houston in 2000.

The game was tied at 28 at halftime, but Houston took charge in the third quarter. The Cougars took a 42-28 lead on TD runs from Reynolds and Robertson.

Houston never trailed again, but Army cut it to 49-42 with 6:35 left on Dahman's 7-yard TD pass to Alton McCallum. Eddy followed with a 4-yard strike to Cucci with 2:46 to play.

Dahman also had a 3-yard touchdown pass to Aaron Alexander in the fourth quarter.

Dahman, the first freshman quarterback to start for Army in 15 years, threw a 78-yard touchdown pass to Jacob Murphy on the second play of the game.

Murphy caught his first college pass behind Houston defender Delenell Reid and outran him to the end zone. It was Army's longest pass since 1996 and marked the first time this season the Black Knights scored first in a game.

 

 

Dahman hit Aris Comeaux with a 7-yard touchdown pass, Carleton Jones ran 1 yard for a score and Josh Holden ran 2 yards for another scored to give Army a 28-21 lead with 1:07 left in the half.

The Cougars tied it with Eddy's 29-yard touchdown pass to Bell with 31 seconds left in the half.
