    TEAM NOTES
    ** With Saturday's win, the Cougars improved to 6-3 overall in 2006 and became bowl eligible... If the Cougars are selected for a bowl at the end of the regular season, they will compete in a bowl game for the third time in the last four years... It will mark the first time that UH has appeared in three bowls in four years since the 1978-81 Cougar teams competed in four straight bowl games (1978 Cotton; 1979 Cotton; 1980 Garden State and 1981 Sun).

    ** Houston improved to 1-1 (.500) in the all-time series against UCF... Saturday's game marked the first time that the Cougars faced UCF in Houston.

    ** Houston improved to 115-120-6 (.490) all-time in the month of October.

    ** Houston improved to 22-19-2 (.535) all-time against NCAA Division I-A teams from the state of Florida.

    ** Houston improved to 77-65-1 (.542) all-time against current Conference USA teams.

    ** Houston improved to 3-6 (.333) all-time when playing on Oct. 21.

    ** With 516 yards of total offense, the Cougars topped the 400-yard milestone for the 29th time under head coach Art Briles.

    ** With 52 points, the Cougars scored at least 40 points for the 11th time under head coach Art Briles... The Cougars are 7-4 (.636) in games in which they score 40 points under Briles.

    ** With 52 points scored, the Cougars set a season high in that category, topping the previous high of 45 points against Tulane in a 45-7 win on Sept. 9, 2006... It was the most points scored by the Cougars since a 56-28 win over UAB during the 2003 regular-season finale on Nov. 29, 2003.

    ** With 52 points scored, the Cougars cracked 40 points for the third time during the 2006 season... It is the most 40-point games for the Cougars since the 2003 squad scored 40 points in a game six times.

    INDIVIDUAL NOTES
    ** Senior quarterback Kevin Kolb made the 45th consecutive start of his career... With that total, he added to his UH record total for the most consecutive starts by a quarterback in UH history... His streak ties with Larry Shepherd (1981-85), Johnny Jackson (1985-88), Carl Hilton (1982-85) and T.J. Turner (1982-85) for the fourth longest in school history... Up next in the UH records book is Val Belcher (1973-76) who played in 46 straight games in his career... Kade Lane (2002-05) played in 48 consecutive games during his career for the UH record.

    ** With 305 passing yards, senior quarterback Kevin Kolb recorded the 16th 300-yard passing game in his career... It also was his fifth 300-yard passing game during the 2006 season... The Cougars are 6-10 (.375) all-time during games in which Kolb passes for 300 yards.

    ** With 316 yards of total offense (305 pass, 11 rush), senior quarterback Kevin Kolb moved past Texas Tech quarterback Kliff Kingsbury into seventh place in NCAA career history with 12,466 yards (11,763 pass, 703 rush)... Up next in the NCAA records book is Louisiana Tech quarterback Tim Rattay who racked up 12,618 yards of total offense (12,746 pass, -128 rush) in his career from 1997 to 1999.

    ** With 305 passing yards, senior quarterback Kevin Kolb moved past Georgia quarterback David Greene into ninth place in NCAA career history with 11,763 career passing yards... Up next in the NCAA records book is Marshall quarterback Byron Leftwich, who threw for 11,903 yards from 1998 to 2002.

    ** With three touchdown passes, senior quarterback Kevin Kolb recorded his eighth game in 2006 with multi-TD passes and the 25th multi-touchdown game of his career... It also was the eighth time in his career with at least three touchdowns passes in a game.

    ** With 42 plays (34 pass, 8 rush), senior quarterback Kevin Kolb moved past Louisville quarterback Chris Redman (1,836 plays; 1996-99) and set a Conference USA career record in that category... Kolb finished the night with 1,857 plays during his career.

    ** With three passing touchdowns, senior quarterback Kevin Kolb moved past David Klingler (93 touchdowns responsible for; 1988-91) and set a UH career record with 96 touchdowns responsible for during his career.

    ** With his catch around the 14:10 mark of the first quarter, senior wide receiver Vincent Marshall caught a pass in his 45th consecutive game... He added to his UH record, topping the previous best of 43 straight games by wide receiver Orlando Iglesias (1997-01).

    ** With his 8-yard touchdown reception at the 11:45 mark of the fourth quarter, senior wide receiver Vincent Marshall moved into a tie with Ken Hebert (1965-67) for fourth place in UH career history with 22 career touchdown catches... Up next in the UH records book is Elmo Wright who caught 34 touchdown passes from 1968-70.

    ** With his 8-yard touchdown reception at the 11:45 mark of the fourth quarter, senior wide receiver Vincent Marshall moved into a tie with Brandon Middleton (1999-03) for ninth place in UH career history with 24 career touchdowns... Up next in the UH records book are Paul Gipson (1966-68) and Joffrey Reynolds (1999-02) who each scored 24 touchdowns during their careers.

    ** With three rushing touchdowns, senior running back Jackie Battle recorded the sixth multi-touchdown game of his career and his third of the 2006 season... It also was the third time in his career that he scored three rushing touchdowns in a game, equaling his high single-game against Grambling State on Sept. 16, 2006, and during the 2003 Sheraton Hawai'i Bowl on Dec. 25, 2003.

    ** With 131 rushing yards, junior wide receiver Anthony Alridge recorded the second 100-yard rushing game of his career... The Cougars are 2-0 when Alridge rushes in triple digits.

    ** Senior running back Roshawn Pope's 62-yard touchdown reception at the 6:12 mark of the third quarter was the longest catch of his career... It topped his previous long of 24 yards set at Rice on Sept. 2

    ** Senior running back Roshawn Pope competed in the 46th game of his collegiate career to tie with eight players for the fourth most in UH history... Up next in the UH records book is Thomas Gafford who played in 47 games from 2001-04... Larry Shepherd holds the UH record with 48 games played from 1981-85.

    ** Senior free safety Will Gulley's interception around the 12:00 mark of the second quarter was his team-leading third pickoff of the 2006 season and the 11th of his career... His career total ties with Reggie Vonner (1980-82), Mark Mohr (1974-76), Harold Evans (1972-74), Robert Giblin (1972-74), L.D. Rowden (1969-70) and Tom Paciorek (1964-66) for the seventh most in UH career history.

    ** Freshman safety Brandon Brinkley's interception around the 13:46 mark of the second quarter was the first pickoff of his career.
