    TEAM NOTES
    ** With a 7-1 record through their first eight games, the Cougars marked the program's best start since the 1990 team started 8-0... It is the program's second-best start since 1980.

    ** Houston has won its last 13 home games at Robertson Stadium... The Cougars have not lost at home since a 37-35 loss to Conference USA-rival East Carolina on Sept. 29, 2007... That ECU loss is the Cougars' only home loss in their last 16 home games.

    ** With 50 points, the Cougars scored in their 113th consecutive game... The Cougars have not been shut out since a 48-0 loss at Texas on Sept. 23, 2000.

    ** The Cougars are 124-123-6 (.501) all-time when playing in the month of October.

    ** The Cougars are 6-1 (.857) all-time when playing on Oct. 31... The Cougars have not lost on Halloween since a 35-7 decision against TCU in Fort Worth, Texas, in 1987... Saturday's game was the first time that Houston has played on Halloween since the 1998 season.

    ** Southern Miss' 13 points scored in the first quarter were a season-high in points scored against Houston in the first quarter. The previous season high was seven against Texas Tech (Sept. 26) and Mississippi State (Oct. 10).

    ** The Houston offense recorded four touchdowns of 30-yards or more against Southern Miss... Entering Saturday's game the Cougars only had two on the season.

    ** With their 750 yards of total offense the Cougars have recorded at least 700 yards for the first time this season and for the first time since recording 700 yards against UTEP on Nov. 22, 2008.

    ** Junior quarterback Case Keenum has thrown a touchdown pass in his last 24 consecutive games, extending his school record... The previous record was 18 consecutive games by Andre Ware from 1988 to 1991.

    ** With his five touchdown passes, junior quarterback Case Keenum recorded the 21st multi-touchdown game of his career... It also was the 18th time in the last 21 games that he has thrown for at least two touchdowns.

    ** With his interception pass in the second quarter, junior quarterback Case Keenum snapped a streak of 120 straight passes without an interception... It was the ninth longest such streak in school history... It was also his first interception since throwing one in the fourth quarter at Mississippi State on Oct. 10, 2009.

    ** With his 559 passing yards, junior quarterback Case Keenum has thrown for more than 300 yards in 20 games during his career... It was the 20th time in the last 22 games that he has reached the milestone. The Cougars are 13-7 when Keenum reached 300 yards.

    ** With his 559 passing yards, junior quarterback Case Keenum has thrown for at least 400 yards in nine games during his career. The Cougar are 7-2 during games in which Keenum throws for at least 400 yards.

    ** With two field goals, freshman kicker Matt Hogan recorded the first multi-field goal game of his career.

    ** With his 190 receiving yards, junior wide receiver James Cleveland recorded the third 100 yard receiving game of his career and the season. The Cougars are 2-1 in games when Cleveland reaches 100 yards receiving.

    ** With his 190 receiving yards, junior wide receiver James Cleveland set a career. He passed his previous career-high of 147 yards at UTEP on Oct. 3, 2009.

    ** With his two receiving touchdowns, junior wide receiver James Cleveland tied his career high. He also had two touchdowns at Mississippi State on Oct. 10, 2009 and at UTEP on Oct. 3, 2009.

    AS A RANKED TEAM
    ** The Cougars are 87-31-3 (.731) all-time when ranked in the Associated Press poll.

    ** The Cougars are 7-3-2 (.667) when ranked at No. 15 in the Associated Press poll.

    ** Saturday's game was the first time that the Cougars were ranked No. 15 in the Associated Press poll since a 47-9 win against Texas on Nov. 11, 1989.

    ** The Cougars are 83-28-2 (.743) all-time when playing as a ranked team (AP) during the regular season.

    ** With 559 passing yards, junior quarterback Case Keenum moved into fifth place in Conference USA history... Keenum now has 10,572 yards during his career... Up next in the C-USA records book is Tulsa's Paul Smith, who threw for 10,639 yards from 2005 to 2007.

    ** With five touchdowns, junior quarterback Case Keenum moved into fourth place in Conference USA history... Keenum now has 83 touchdown passes during his career... Up next in the C-USA records book is Louisville's Chris Redman who threw 84 touchdown passes from 1996 to 1999.

    ** With 44 completions, junior quarterback Case Keenum moved into fourth place in Conference USA history... Keenum now has 869 completions during his career... Up next in the C-USA records book is Cincinnati's Gino Guidugli, who threw 880 completions from 2001 to 2004.

    ** With 54 passing attempts, junior quarterback Case Keenum moved into eighth place in Conference USA history... Keenum now has 1,260 attempts during his career... Up next in the C-USA records book is Tulane's Patrick Ramsey who threw 1,355 attempts from 1998 to 2001.
