    TEAM NOTES
    ** The Cougars improved to 13-9-1 (.587) all-time against SMU.

    ** The Cougars improved to 85-66-1 (.563) all-time against current teams in Conference USA.

    ** The Cougars improved to 6-2 (.750) all-time when playing on Nov. 4.

    ** The Cougars improved to 127-116-9 (.516) all-time against teams from the state of Texas.

    ** With 38 points, the Cougars scored in their 89th consecutive game... The Cougars have not been shut out since a 48-0 loss at Texas on Sept. 23, 2000.

    ** With 552 yards of total offense (288 pass, 264 rush), the Cougars recorded at least 400 yards of total offense for the 43rd time during head coach Art Briles' tenure... It also marked the 10th straight game that the Cougars reached that total dating back to the 2006 AutoZone Liberty Bowl.... The Cougars improved to 29-14 (.674) since 2003 when recording at least 400 yards of total offense.

    ** With 552 yards of total offense (288 pass, 264 rush), the Cougars recorded at least 500 yards of total offense for the 21st time during head coach Art Briles' tenure... The Cougars improved to 14-7 (.667) since 2003 when recording at least 500 yards of total offense.

    ** With Sunday's win, the Cougars became bowl eligible in 2007... If the Cougars are selected for a bowl game, it will be the fourth time during the last five seasons that UH will compete in a bowl game... It will be the first time since 1978-82 that the Cougars will accomplish that feat.

    ** If the Cougars are selected for a bowl game in 2007, head coach Art Briles will lead the Cougars to their fourth bowl game during his five-year tenure at UH... Only former head coach Bill Yeoman, who led the Cougars to 11 bowl games from 1962 to 1986, has coached UH in more bowl games.

    INDIVIDUAL NOTES
    ** With 116 receiving yards, senior wide receiver Donnie Avery moved past 1,000 yards during the 2007 season, becoming the ninth player in school history to reach that milestone... Avery finished the game with 1,097 receiving yards to date this season... It was the first time during his career that he reached that milestone.

    ** With 116 receiving yards, senior wide receiver Donnie Avery moved past Brandon Middleton into third place in UH career history with 2,930 yards... Up next in the UH records book is Elmo Wright, who recorded 3,347 yards from 1968 to 1970.

    ** With 10 receptions, senior wide receiver Donnie Avery extended his streak of games with at least one reception to 30 consecutive games, the 11th-longest streak among active players... Avery has not played a game without recording at least once reception since facing Tulane on Oct. 8, 2005.

    ** With 116 receiving yards, senior wide receiver Donnie Avery his fifth 100-yard receiving game of the 2007 season and the ninth of his career... The Cougars improved to 3-6 (.333) all-time during games in which Avery reaches 100 receiving yards in a game.

    ** With 116 receiving yards, senior wide receiver Donnie Avery recorded the ninth 100-yard receiving game of his career... That total tied with Marcus Grant (1990-91) for seventh in UH career history... Up next in the UH records book is Orlando Iglesias, who recorded 10 100-yard receiving games from 1997 to 2001.

    ** With his 7-yard touchdown catch early in the fourth quarter, senior wide receiver Donnie Avery moved into a tie with Jason Phillips (1987-88) for sixth place in UH career history with 18 touchdown catches... Up next in the UH records book is Ken Hebert, who caught 22 touchdown passes from 1965 to 1967.

    ** Redshirt freshman wide receiver Chaz Rodriguzez's 24-yard touchdown catch from senior running back Anthony Alridge at the 3:29 mark of the second quarter was the first of his career.

    ** With 204 rushing yards, senior running back Anthony Alridge finished the game with 2,215 rushing yards during his career to move into 10th place in UH career history... Up next in the UH records book is Dick Post, who rushed for 2,219 yards from 1964 to 1966.

    ** With 154 rushing yards, senior running back Anthony Alridge recorded his sixth 100-yard rushing game of 2007 and the 10th of his career... The Cougars improved to 8-2 (.800) during games in which Alridge reaches triple digits in rushing yards.

    ** With 154 rushing yards, senior running back Anthony Alridge recorded his fifth consecutive game with at least 100 rushing yards... Alridge became the first player since Alois Blackwell (Oct. 29-Dec. 3, 1977) to reach triple digits in five straight games... He joined Robert Newhouse (7 games, 1971), Jim Strong (5 games, 1969) and Puddin Jones (5 games, 1972) as the only players in UH history to accomplish that feat.

    ** With 10 100-yard rushing yard games during his career, senior running back Anthony Alridge into a tie for sixth place with Gene Shannon (1949-51) in UH career history... Up next in the UH records book is Alois Blackwell, who posted 11 1975 to 1977

    ** With two rushing touchdowns, senior running back Anthony Alridge moved into a tie with Gene Shannon (1951), Paul Gipson (1967), Jim Strong (1969), Tommy Mozisek (1970), Alois Blackwell (1977) and Joffrey Reynolds (2002) for seventh place in UH single-season history... Up next in the UH records book are Robert Newhouse (1971), Leonard Parker (1973) and Ketric Sanford (1999), who each rushed for 12 touchdowns during their respective seasons.

    ** With two touchdowns, senior running back Anthony Alridge moved into a tie with Jason Phllips (1988), Antowain Smith (1996) and Jackie Battle (2007) for second place in UH single-season history with 15 touchdowns... Up next in the UH records book is Manny Hazard who set a UH record with 22 touchdowns scored in 1989.

    ** With 264 passing yards, redshirt freshman quarterback Case Keenum set a personal single-game high... His total topped his previous best of 197 yards set against Colorado State on Sept. 22, 2007.

    ** Junior safety Kenneth Fontenette's interception around the 8-minute mark of the first quarter was his team-leading third of the 2007 season and the seventh of his career.

    ** Sophomore strong safety Broderick Bean recovered his first career fumble around the 8:57 mark of the second quarter.

    ** Sophomore punter Chase Turner's 57-yard punt midway through the fourth quarter was a career best... It topped his previous long of 56 yards at C-USA rival UTEP on Oct. 27, 2007.
