    TEAM NOTES

    ** The Cougars' 8-1 record ties for the program's best start through nine games in school history... It equals 8-1 starts by the 1990, 1979, 1978 and 1973 teams.

    ** With 46 points, the Cougars scored in their 114th consecutive game... The Cougars have not been shut out since a 48-0 loss at Texas on Sept. 23, 2000.

    ** The Cougars improved to 126-98-4 (.561) all-time when playing in the month of November.

    ** The Cougars improved to 3-4-2 (.444) all-time when playing on Nov. 7... The Cougars snapped a two-game losing streak on Nov. 7... Prior to Saturday's win, Houston had not won on Nov. 7 since a 60-40 win against Texas inside the Houston Astrodome.

    ** With 695 yards of total offense (522 pass, 173 rush), the Cougars have recorded at least 600 yards in three games this season and nine times in the last two seasons.

    ** Head coach Kevin Sumlin improved to 2-0 against Tulsa during his career.

    ** With his four-play, 27-yard game-winning drive that was capped by kicker Matt Hogan's field goal, junior quarterback Case Keenum has recorded five comebacks during his career in which the Cougars were tied or trailing in the final minute of the game.

    ** Junior quarterback Case Keenum recorded his 20th win as the starting quarterback... He joined Kevin Kolb (26, 2003-06), Gary Mullins (25-5, 1969-71) and Danny Davis (20, 1976-78) as the only players in school history to reach that milestone.

    ** Junior quarterback Case Keenum moved into a tie with Andre Ware for second place in Houston career history with three 500-yard games.

    ** Junior quarterback Case Keenum joined David Klingler (1990) and Andre Ware (1989) as the only players to record three 500-yard games in a single season.

    ** Junior quarterback Case Keenum has thrown a touchdown pass in his last 25 consecutive games, extending his school record... The previous record was 18 consecutive games by Andre Ware from 1988 to 1991.

    ** With three touchdown passes, junior quarterback Case Keenum recorded the 22nd multi-touchdown game of his career... It also was the 19th time in the last 22 games that he has thrown for at least two touchdowns.

    ** With 522 passing yards, junior quarterback Case Keenum has thrown for more than 300 yards in 21 games during his career... It was the 21st time in the last 23 games that he has reached the milestone. The Cougars are 13-7 (.650) when Keenum reached 300 yards.

    ** With 522 passing yards, junior quarterback Case Keenum has thrown for at least 400 yards in 10 games during his career. The Cougar improved to 8-2 (.800) during games in which Keenum throws for at least 400 yards.

    ** With 522 passing yards, junior quarterback Case Keenum has thrown for more than 500 yards three times during his career... Houston improved to 2-1 (.667) when Keenum throws for more than 500 yards.

    ** With his 51-yard field goal as time expired, redshirt freshman kicker Matt Hogan set a career long.. His kick topped his previous long of 34 yards set against Conference USA-rival Southern Miss on Oct. 31, 2009.

    ** Redshirt freshman kicker Matt Hogan's 51-yard field goal as time expired tied as the fourth longest field goal in school history... It equaled 51-yard kicks by Chip Browndyke (vs. Rice, Nov. 30, 1985), Chip Browndyke (vs. Arkansas, Oct. 26, 1985) and Roman Anderson (vs. Baylor, oct. 7, 1989).

    ** Redshirt freshman kicker Matt Hogans 51-yard field goal as time expired was the longest since Dustin Bell kicked a 53-yard field goal against Conference USA-rival Southern Miss on Oct. 7, 2004.

    ** With four field goals, redshirt freshman kicker Matt Hogan became the first Cougar to accomplish that feat since Roman Anderson did it against Baylor on Oct. 7, 1989.

    ** Redshirt freshman kicker Matt Hogan's 51-yard field goal as time expired was the Cougars' second 50-yard field goal of the season... Sophomore Jordan Mannisto booted a 50-yard field goal against Texas Tech on Sept. 26, 2009, on the last play of the first half in Houston.

    ** Redshirt freshman kicker Matt Hogan now has made each of the first seven field goals in his career.

    ** With four field goals, redshirt freshman kicker Matt Hogan recorded a personal high... His total topped his previous high of two field goals against Conference USA-rival Southern Miss on Oct. 31, 2009.

    ** With four field goal attempts, redshirt freshman kicker Matt Hogan recorded a personal high... His total topped his previous high of two attempts against Conference USA-rival Southern Miss on Oct. 31, 2009.

    ** With four field goals, redshirt freshman kicker Matt Hogan recorded the second multi-field goal game of his career.

    ** With four field goals, redshirt freshman kicker Matt Hogan recorded his second straight game with multiple field goals... He booted two field goals against Conference USA-rival Southern Miss on Oct. 31, 2009.

    ** Sophomore wide receiver Patrick Edwards (176 yards) and junior wide receiver James Cleveland (167 yards) each posted more than 100 yards... It was the first time that two players recorded at least 100 yards in the same game since Cleveland (147 yards) and sophomore wide receiver Tyron Carrier (115 yards) accomplished the feat at Conference USA-rival UTEP on Oct. 3, 2009.

    ** With 167 receiving yards, sophomore wide receiver Patrick Edwards recorded a personal high.. His total topped his previous high of 146 yards at No. 23/RV East Carolina on Sept. 27, 2008).

    ** With 167 receiving yards, sophomore wide receiver Patrick Edwards recorded the fifth 100-yard game of his career... The Cougars improved to 4-1 (.800) during games in which Edwards reaches triple digits. ** With 176 receiving yards, junior wide receiver James Cleveland recorded the fourth 100-yard receiving game of his career and the season. The Cougars are 3-1 (.750) in games when Cleveland reaches triple digits.

    ** With three touchdown receptions, junior James Cleveland scored a touchdown for the sixth time in his last seven games... Cleveland did not score a touchdown in the Cougars' 38-15 win against Conference USA-rival SMU on Oct. 24, 2009.

    ** With three touchdown receptions, junior wide receiver James Cleveland set a personal best... His total topped his previous high of two touchdown catches, set against Southern Miss (Oct. 31, 2009), at Mississippi State (Oct. 10, 2009) and at Conference USA-rival UTEP (Oct. 3, 2009).

    ** Senior cornerback Brandon Brinkley's interception around the 0:12 mark of the second quarter was his team-leading third pickoff in 2009... It also was the 10th interception of his career.

    ** Junior cornerback Jamal Robinson's interception around the 1:42 mark of the third quarter tied him with senior cornerback Brandon Brinkley for the team lead... It also was the third interception of his career.

    ** Sophomore wide receiver Tyron Carrier's 98-yard kickoff return at the 1:58 mark of the third quarter was the fourth-longest return in school history.. It trailed only the100-yard returns by Donnie Avery (vs. East Carolina, Sept. 29, 2007); Ricky Wilson (vs. Louisville, Nov. 22, 2003) and Ronnie Powledge (vs. Detroit, Nov. 2, 1963).

    ** With a 98-yard kickoff return at the 1:58 mark of the third quarter, sophomore wide receiver Tyron Carrier recorded his second kickoff return score of 2009... He returned a kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown against Conference USA-rival SMU o Oct. 24, 2009.

    ** With his 98-yard kickoff return for a touchdown late in the third quarter, sophomore wide receiver Tyron Carrier recorded the third kickoff return score of his career... In addition to his two kickoff returns for touchdown in 2009, Carrier returned a kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown against Tulsa on Nov. 15, 2009, in Houston.

    ** Freshman tight end Tyler Chambers recorded the first kickoff return of his career around the 10:24 mark of the first quarter.


    AS A RANKED TEAM
    ** The Cougars improved to 88-31-3 (.734) all-time when ranked in the Associated Press poll.

    ** The Cougars improved to 7-0 when ranked at No. 13 in the Associated Press poll.

    ** Saturday's game was the first time that the Cougars were ranked No. 13 in the Associated Press poll since a 31-15 win at Baylor on Oct. 6, 1990.

    ** The Cougars improved to 35-20-1 (.634) all-time when playing as a ranked team (AP) on the road.

    ** This marked the seventh week that the Cougars were ranked in the Associated Press poll... It is the highest total since the 1990 team was ranked for 13 weeks.


    KEENUM IN THE C-USA RECORDS BOOK
    ** With 522 passing yards, junior quarterback Case Keenum moved into fourth place in Conference USA history... Keenum now has 11,094 yards during his career... Up next in the C-USA records book is Cincinnati's Gino Guidugli, who threw for 11,453 yards from 2001 to 2004.

    ** With three touchdown passes, junior quarterback Case Keenum moved into second place in Conference USA history... Keenum now has 86 touchdown passes during his career... With Saturday's performance, Keenum also moved past former Houston quarterback Kevin Kolb, who previously ranked second with 85 touchdown passes from 2003 to 2006... Up next in the C-USA records book is Rice's Chase Clement, who set a league record with 99 touchdown passes from 2005 to 2008.

    ** With 543 yards of total offense (522 pass, 21 rush), junior quarterback Case Keenum moved into third place in Conference USA history... Keenum now has 11,818 yards of total offense (10,572 pass, 707 rush) during his career... Up next in the Conference USA records book is Louisville's Chris Redman, who accounted for 12,129 yards of total offense from 1996 to 1999.

    ** With 66 plays, junior quarterback Case Keenum moved into eighth place in Conference USA history... Keenum now has 1,540 plays during his career... Up next in the Conference USA records book is Tulsa's Paul Smith, who competed in 1,575 plays from 2005 to 2007.
