2007 Houston Cougars Football Postgame Notes
** Saturday's game was the first meeting between Houston and Marshall.
** The Cougars improved to 86-67-1 (.562) all-time against current teams in Conference USA.
** The Cougars improved to 121-97-4 (.554) all-time when playing in the month of November.
** The Cougars improved to 3-1 (.750) all-time when playing on Nov. 17.
** Saturday's game was the first meeting between Houston and a team from the state of West Virginia.
** With 35 points, the Cougars scored in their 91st consecutive game... The Cougars have not been shut out since a 48-0 loss at Texas on Sept. 23, 2000.
** With 472 yards (174 rush, 298 pass) of total offense, the Cougars recorded at least 400 yards of total offense for the 10th time in 11 games during the 2007 season... It also was the 11th time in the last 12 games - dating back to the 2006 AutoZone Liberty Bowl - that the Cougars reached that milestone.
** With 11 100-yard rushing yard games during his career, senior running back Anthony Alridge into a tie with Alois Blackwell (11, 1975-77) for fifth in UH career history... Up next in the UH records book is Joffrey Reynolds, who posted 13 100-yard rushing games from 1999 to 2002.
** With 128 receiving yards, junior tight end Mark Hafner recorded the first 100-yard receiving game of his career... His total topped his previous high of 66 yards set at UAB on Oct. 20, 2007... The Cougars improved to 1-0 in games in which Hafner reaches triple digits in 100 receiving yards.
** With his 62-yard touchdown reception at the 4:22 mark of the fourth quarter, junior tight end Mark Hafner recorded the longest reception of his career... His catch topped his previous long of 33 yards against Oklahoma State on Sept. 23, 2006.
** With six catches, junior tight end Mark Hafner tied his personal single-game high... His total equaled his six catches set at Tulsa on Nov. 10, 2007 and at Tulane on Sept. 15, 2007.
** Senior running back Anthony Alridge's 3-yard touchdown run at the 5:17 mark of the second quarter was the 20th rushing touchdown of his career.
** With two touchdowns, senior running back Anthony Alridge scored his 16th and 17th touchdowns of the 2007 season to move into sole possession of second place in UH single-season history... Up next in the UH records book is Manny Hazard, who scored 22 touchdowns in 1989.
** With 20 career rushing touchdowns, senior running back Anthony Alridge moved into a tie for seventh place with Ted Heiskell (1968-70) in UH career history... Up next in the UH records book is Alois Blackwell, who rushed for 21 touchdowns from 1975 to 1977.
** Senior running back Anthony Alridge recorded a rushing touchdown and a receiving touchdown in a game for the fourth time this season... He accomplished that feat at Oregon (Sept. 1), at Tulane (Sept. 15) and against East Carolina (Sept. 29)... Earlier this season, he became the first player to accomplish that feat in consecutive games.
** With 103 rushing yards, senior running back Anthony Alridge finished with 2,306 (2,409) career yards to move past Gene Shannon (2,332, 1949-51) into seventh place in UH history... Up next in the UH records book is Alois Blackwell, who rushed for 2,467 yards from 1975 to 1977.
** With five receptions, senior wide receiver Donnie Avery extended his streak of games with at least one reception to 32 consecutive games, the 11th-longest streak among active players... Avery has not played a game without recording at least once reception since facing Tulane on Oct. 8, 2005.
** With 46 receiving yards, senior wide receiver Donnie Avery moved past the 3,000-yard mark during his career... Avery finished the game with 3,026 career receiving yards... He joined Vincent Marshall (3,770 yards, 2003-06) and Elmo Wright (3,347 yards, 1968-70) as the only players to reach that milestone.
** With his two-point conversion at the 10:50 mark of the fourth quarter, redshirt freshman quarterback Case Keenum recorded the Cougars' first conversion since running back Anthony Alridge scored on a rush against South Carolina during the 2006 AutoZone Liberty Bowl.
** With two field goals, senior kicker T.J. Lawrence recorded his fourth multi-field goal game of the 2007 season and his career.
** With two field goals, senior kicker T.J. Lawrence tied his career high... He equaled his mark set at UTEP (Oct. 27, 2007), at Tulane (Sept. 15, 2007) and at Oregon (Sept. 1, 2007).
** Junior defensive tackle Billy Hartford made his first career start.
