HOUSTON (AP) - DeMyron Martin scored two second-half touchdowns and Chris McMurtray kicked a 49-yard field goal with three seconds remaining to lift SMU to a 29-24 victory over Houston on Saturday night.

After McMurtray's field goal, Houston downed the kickoff and had the ball at its own 20 with two seconds remaining. But on the next play the ball was snapped over the head of Kevin Kolb, who chased it down and was tackled in the end zone for a safety.

Houston (5-5, 3-4 C-USA) led 14-10 at halftime, but then Martin scored twice in the third quarter for SMU (3-7, 3-4). He caught a 5-yard touchdown pass 4:39 into the quarter, then added a 1-yard TD plunge with 48 seconds left to put SMU up 24-14.

Kolb then scored on a 1-yard run for Houston early in the fourth, and Ben Bell kicked a 29-yard field goal to tie the score with 2:07 remaining.

Kolb had two 1-yard touchdown runs and was 25-of-36 for 273 yards and another score. But he also threw two interceptions and lost a fumble.

Ryan Gilbert rushed for 133 yards on 20 carries for the Cougars, who outgained SMU 392-241. Vincent Marshall caught nine passes for 89 yards and a score.
