The University of Houston Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced Tuesday the non-conference portion of the 2011 football schedule. The out-of-league games are scheduled for the first four weeks of September with two at the friendly confines of Robertson Stadium.
The Cougars open 2011 with the return game of Pac-10 opponent UCLA on Sept. 3 at Robertson Stadium. It will be the sixth game in the series between the two teams. Head coach Kevin Sumlin's squad then travels to Denton, Texas to take on North Texas of the Sun Belt in the inaugural game of its New Football Stadium at Mean Green Village.
The third game of the non-conference will take place in Ruston, La., against WAC foe Louisiana Tech for the first meeting since 1995. The Cougars then return home for the final game before Conference USA play, to host the Georgia State Panthers.
The Conference USA schedule has traditionally been released by the league in March. With four home games in conference play UH will have a total of six games scheduled at Robertson Stadium.
