Cougars Announce the Signing of Lister

Feb. 2, 2006

HOUSTON, Texas - University of Houston head football coach Art Briles announced that wide receiver Jonathan Lister has signed a National Letter of Intent to play with the Cougars this fall. Houston now has 31 new faces, including 25 NLI recruits, joining the UH Program in 2006.

"Obviously, we are pleased to have someone with Jonathan's ability in our program," said Briles, who will enter his fourth season this fall. "He is a very talented playmaker who should adjust well into our offensive system. Plus, he is a tough, physical kid who just knows how to get open."

Lister starred at Lamar Consolidated High School in Rosenberg, where he was twice named First-Team, All-District. He also was named to the All-Area squad, while picking up All-Greater Houston Second-Team accolades along the way.

The 6-1, 180-pound wide out racked up 1,178 receiving yards this past season, including 253 against West Columbia. He finished the 2005 season with 15 all-purpose touchdowns. Lister also was heavily recruited by Arizona State.
