Former Cougar Standout Cornelius Price Killed In Motorcycle Accident
Feb. 15, 2002 Houston - Former University of Houston second-team All-America defensive back Cornelius Price was killed in a motorcycle accident in Dallas on Wednesday, February 13. Price was killed in Dallas on Wednesday afternoon when a car, which had run a stop light, struck his motorcycle. Wake services will be held from 8-9 p.m. on Sunday, February 17, at the Evergreen Funeral Home, 6449 Houston School Road, in Dallas. Funeral Services will be on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Greater People's Missionary, 1300 Bonne View Road, in Dallas. A member of Houston's football team in 1988 and 1989, Price set the Southwest Conference record for most interceptions in a season when he led the nation with 12 as a senior in 1989. Houston finished the season ranked with a 9-2 record and was ranked 14th in the Associated Press and CNN/USA Today final national rankings. Price also tied All-American Johnny Jackson for Houston's team lead in interceptions with four and was a member of the Cougars' 1988 team that finished the season with a 9-3 record, played in the Aloha Bowl and was ranked 18th in the AP final football poll. Born December 10, 1968, Price came to Houston after a standout career at Dallas Carter High School in 1987. He sat out his freshman season to concentrate on academics.
He is survived by his wife, Tavius, son, Jordan, daughter, Brittany Malone, mother, Katherine Price Jones, stepfather Billy Jones, Charles Logan and a brother, Vincent.
