Eleven Named to The American's All-Academic Football Team

HOUSTON – Eleven student-athletes from the University of Houston Football program were named to The American Athletic Conference’s All-Academic Team the league announced Tuesday.

The group consisted of two seniors, OL Kevin Forsch and LB Austin Wilson, two juniors, WR Markeith Ambles and P Logan Piper, three sophomores, DS Nolan Frese, WR Casey Martin and P Dylan Seibert, and four freshmen in WR Demarcus Ayers, K Ty Cummings, WR D’Juan Hines and FB Tyler McCloskey.

To qualify for the team, student-athletes must have earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 through the fall term of the 2013-14 academic year and have completed a minimum of two consecutive semesters with a total of 18 semester credits not including remedial courses.

Tuesday’s announcement was the latest in academic successes for the Houston Athletics Department. The 11 football student-athletes are a part of an athletic department of more than 385 student-athletes who combined to set a Houston Athletics record with a cumulative GPA of 2.95 after the fall semester, and a record for a fall semester GPA with 2.92.



Houston fans can currently place deposits for 2014 season tickets, the first in the new Houston Football Stadium, at UHCougars.com. A $50 deposit will allow fans to participate in the Season Ticket Select-A-Seat process in April. The $50 deposit is not a fee and will go towards the cost of season tickets. 2014 Season tickets in the new stadium begin at just $140.
