HOUSTON, Texas - University of Houston head football coach Kevin Sumlin announced today that senior quarterback Blake Joseph has left the team.

"We appreciate everything he's done for the Cougar Football program," the second-year head coach said. "He has decided to forgo his final year here at Houston, and we wish him the very best in whatever he decides to do."

Joseph played in 22 games in his Houston career, including five starts at quarterback in 2007. Joseph threw for 1,581 yards and 10 touchdowns, completing 66.7 percent of his passes (120-of-184) with just five interceptions. In 2007, Joseph passed for 1,324 yards and nine touchdowns and added an additional 109 yards and one score on the ground. Last season he played both quarterback and wide receiver, registering three catches during the year.

Joseph is slated to graduate from the University of Houston in May with a bachelor's degree in sports administration.
