HOUSTON - Houston head football coach Tony Levine announced Thursday that cornerback Marcus Dillard from Butler Community College has signed with the UH program as a member of the 2013 signing class. The Byrnes, S.C., native will have three years of eligibility for the Cougars after earning First Team All-Jayhawk League honors as a redshirt-freshman at Butler.
Dillard helped lead Butler to the NJCAA National Championship and an 11-1 record with six interceptions, including two in its title-clinching win over No. 13 Hutchinson CC. A teammate of 2013 signee Billy Cosh, Dillard finished the 2012 season with 57 tackles, including 3.5 for loss, and six pass break ups.
In high school, Dillard helped lead Byrnes High School to back-to-back South Carolina state titles and was selected to play in the North-South All-Star game as well as being named All-Region his senior year.
Dillard is the 27th member of the 2013 signing class, joining the 26 student-athletes who signed with Houston on the Feb. 6 National Signing Day.
