Hawaii Transfer Ben Dew to Join Houston Program
April 1, 2014
HOUSTON – The University of Houston announced the addition of offensive lineman Ben Dew to its roster Tuesday. Dew comes to Houston after three seasons at the University of Hawaii where he started at right guard in five games for the Warriors in 2013.
Dew will enroll at Houston as a junior after completing his undergraduate degree requirements at Hawaii in May.
Dew redshirted his first year on the Hawaii campus in 2011 and did not see any action in 2012 before making a mark on the program with five starts at right guard in 2013. Dew helped lead an offense that ranked 19th nationally with an average of 301.4 passing yards per game.
A 6-3, 305 lb., native of Auckland, New Zealand, Dew played one season of high school football at Word of Life Academy in Honolulu where he was named honorable mention all-1LH in 2009. Also a skilled rugby and basketball player, Dew played on the North Harbour under-17’s and under-19’s all-star basketball teams.
