The University of Houston football team will wrap up 2011 spring practices with its annual Red and White Spring Game, set to kickoff at 2 p.m. at Robertson Stadium. Admission and parking are free and the UH Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has planned many activities to make this a destination for the UH family.
THE TEAM: The game will be a culmination of four weeks and 15 practices of preparation for the 2011 season. The Cougars return 16 starters from the 2010 season including quarterback Case Keenum and first-team All-Conference USA performers Bryce Beall at running back and Patrick Edwards at receiver. Defensively, the team will be in season two with defensive coordinator Brian Stewart and returns an intact linebacking corps featuring Marcus McGraw and three defensive linemen with starting experience.
THE FORMAT: The team will be divided by offense (Red Squad) and defense (White Squad) and square off for a two-half scrimmage. The first half will be two 15-minute quarters followed by a 30-minute running clock for the second half. There will be a special scoring system devised to allow the defense to score points.

THE DETAILS: All fans will be sitting on the West side of Robertson Stadium (press box side) and can enter through gates 1, 4 and 7. All seating will be general admission. Both concessions and the UH Fan Shop will be open during the game.
YOUTH EXPERIENCE: The Houston football team will host the 2011 Cougar Youth Experience on Sat., April 9 immediately following the Red and White Spring Game on John O'Quinn Field at Robertson Stadium. Children aged kindergarten through eighth grade can join the players and coaches for a clinic and autograph session on the field. Admission is free, and pre-registration can be done in advance by calling the Houston football office at 713-743-9388. Children will also be able to register the day of the event.
KIDS CAN PLAY: In addition to the Youth Experience, kids will be able to play in inflatable games in the Cougar Pride Kid Zone from 12-2 p.m. before the spring game on the West side in the Pavilion area.
OUT OF TOWNERS: Fans who cannot attend Saturdays scrimmage can watch it in its entirety on UHCougars.com on its all-access media player. The video will be supplemented by the radio calls of the IMG Cougar Radio Network with Tom Franklin, Ted Pardee and Chuck Brown.
