Date Changes Announced for Two Houston Football Games

    HOUSTON - The American Athletic Conference announced date changes for two Houston Football games Tuesday to accommodate national television broadcasts. The Cougars open the new Houston Football Stadium at 8 p.m., Friday, Aug. 29, when it hosts UTSA in a game broadcasted nationally on ESPNews.

    Houston’s game vs. Temple, originally scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 18, will move to Friday, Oct. 17, at 8 p.m. in a game televised nationally by ESPNU.

    The games are the third and fourth Houston games of the season to be designated for national broadcast as The American previously announced ESPN national TV selections for two Houston games on March 17 at BYU on Thursday, Sept. 11, and against UCF on Thursday, Oct. 2, on the worldwide leader in sports broadcasting.

    Houston opens the season with back-to-back home games its new Houston Football Stadium. The first game in the stadium's history is slated for Friday, Aug. 29, vs. UTSA, followed by a home tilt vs. Grambling on Sept. 6.

    Following its first bye of the season, UH returns home on Saturday, Sept. 27, to face Tennessee Tech.

    Houston returns to the national TV stage on Thursday, Oct. 2, as it hosts the 2014 Fiesta Bowl champion and The American champion UCF.

    UH then travels to Memphis on Saturday, Oct. 11, before hosting Temple for the first time since 1989 on Friday, Oct. 17.

    The season's second bye on Oct. 25 is followed by a Nov. 1 trip to Tampa, Fla., to face USF before a return home on Nov. 8 to take on Tulane. Houston's third and final bye falls on Nov. 15.

    The Cougars close out the 2014 regular season with three straight American Conference games, including two on the road. UH's 2014 home finale falls on Saturday, Nov. 22, vs. Tulsa before Houston hits the road for back-to-back games.

    The American's Texas showdown will occur on Black Friday for the second straight year as UH travels to Dallas to face SMU on Friday, Nov. 28, before closing the regular season on Saturday, Dec. 6, at Cincinnati.

    2014 FOOTBALL SEASON TICKETS
    Houston fans can guarantee a place in history by purchasing season tickets for the first ever season in the new Houston Football Stadium. General admission season tickets are currently on sale for just $140 as are Memorial Hermann Family Plan four-pack season tickets for just $299.

    For those interested in purchasing 2014 reserved season tickets, fans may place a $200 season ticket deposit at UHCougars.com that will give access to participate in a 24-hour Select-A-Seat process in May. The $200 deposit is not a fee and will go towards the cost of season tickets. Lower level reserved season tickets begin at just $200.
