April 17, 2013
HOUSTON - Houston linebacker Elandon Roberts will be eligible to play immediately this fall as the NCAA announced Wednesday it had granted the Morgan State a transfer waiver. Roberts will enter 2013 as a sophomore after spending the 2012 season at Morgan State.
In his lone season at Morgan State, the Port Arthur, Texas, native was a top candidate for the Jerry Rice Award, given to the nation's top freshman on the FCS level, as he finished the season with 107 tackles, the second-best total in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.
Roberts (6-1, 225) also had nine tackles for loss, two sacks, one interception and two pass breakups on the year.
The 2013 Houston team returns 29 players with starting experience including 81.6 percent of its total offense, 89.2 percent of its receiving yards and 97.5 percent of its rushing yards from 2012.
