HOUSTON - After a month of practice, the University of Houston football team wraps up the spring season this weekend when it takes part in the annual Red & White Spring Game at noon, Saturday, on John O'Quinn Field at Robertson Stadium.

Admission is free to the scrimmage, and the public is invited to attend.

This will be the third and final scrimmage of the spring campaign. In their most recent outing at Delmar Stadium, the Cougar defense - under new defensive coordinator Brian Stewart - impressed fans with eight sacks and four interceptions.

Junior college transfer Sammy Brown led the defense with three sacks and one interception, while sophomore linebacker Kelvin King finished with two sacks and five tackles.

A year ago, the Cougar offense led the nation with 563.4 yards of total offense, 433.7 passing yards and 42.2 points per game. Nine starters return from the unit that posted those dazzling numbers, including senior quarterback and Heisman Trophy candidate Case Keenum, who became only the second quarterback in NCAA history to record multiple 5,000-yard passing seasons.

In 2009, the Abilene, Texas, native set a school record with 5,671 passing yards.
