HOUSTON - University of Houston senior Carl Barnett is one of 44 Division I-A offensive centers on this Spring's Watch List for the Rimington Trophy. The 6-foot-2 Cougar, along with 11 others, was featured on the 2008 Watch List for the award that honors the most outstanding player in the position for each division.

The ten-year-old trophy has raised over $1.3 million for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, which is raised by the Boomer Esiason Foundation. The Rimington Trophy Committee uses the American Football Coaches Association, Walter Camp Foundation, Sporting News and Football Writers Association of America to determine a winner.

Barnett returns for his senior year as the team's anchor at center. He has been a starter for UH since his sophomore year, after being named to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team in 2006. Barnett was also a 2008 All-Conference USA Candidate and will graduate in December with a degree in kinesiology.

The Dickinson, Texas native was a member of the offensive unit that piled up almost 41 points per game and helped UH rank second nationally in total offensive yards at 562.8 and in passing yards at 401.6. Additionally, Barnett helped offense record nine games with more than 500 yards of total offense.
