Houston Athletics Announces Ticket Sales Department

    July 2, 2014

HOUSTON - With the opening of the Houston Football Stadium set for Aug. 29, the Houston Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has announced the addition of a Ticket Sales department that will focus on outbound sales for all sport programs that conduct ticketed home events.

Led by Assistant Athletics Director for Ticket Sales Brooke Smoley, the department began operations in May and focuses strictly on sales of season tickets, group outings, mini-plans and single-game sales. Ticket operational duties shift under the umbrella of Houston Sports & Entertainment.

“We have to be more proactive in our pursuit of ticket sales and the addition of an outbound sales force allows us to actively pursue leads while expanding our brand across Houston and the state of Texas,” said Houston Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics Mack Rhoades. “Under Brooke Smoley’s leadership, we look forward to the positive results from our Ticket Sales department and encourage all current Houston season ticket holders to help push their friends and families to purchase season tickets for what promises to be an exciting season of Houston Football in the brand new Houston Football Stadium!”

Smoley spent six seasons with the Miami Dolphins, starting in March of 2007 as a ticket sales associate before rising to director of business development in the ticket sales department. Under Smoley’s leadership, the Dolphins ranked first in the NFL for new premium seat sales in 2013, generating over $2.2 million dollars in new sales revenue in the season, an increase of $1.2 million over the previous year.

Joining Smoley in the Ticket Sales department are Senior Account Executive Jake Mankin, a member of Smoley’s staff at Miami, and Account Executives Joe Hinds and Natalie Newcomb.

Mankin spent three years with the Miami Dolphins as a sales representative and account executive, focusing on season ticket sales while managing and training new sales representatives as well.

A Brenham, Texas native, Hinds joins the UH department after working as an inside sales representative with the NHL’s Florida Panthers.

A Houston Swimming and Diving letterwinner who knows how tickets sold positively affects all 17 of Houston’s sport programs, Newcomb joins the ticket sales team after spending one season as an assistant swim coach at River Oaks Country Club.
