The #HTownTakeover continued its time in Newport, R.I. on Tuesday with the bulk of the American Media Day event, beginning with group photos prior to listening in on the state of the league by the American Commissioner. The players then broke out into individual media sessions, while Coach Applewhite joined other West Division coaches during an open-media panel.

8:45 - 9:45 a.m. CT - Head Coach Major Applewhite spoke alongside the American West Division coaches in a media open panel.

7:30 a.m. CT - #HTownTakeover's Steven Dunbar and Matthew Adams joined other student-athletes from around the league early Tuesday morning for a group photo in Newport, R.I.

The #HTownTakeover left Houston en route to American Media Days in Newport, RI on Monday.

6 p.m. CT - The annual New England clambake proved to be another hit with the Cougars as Steven Dunbar and Matthew Adams took in the atmosphere with a lobster feast.

2 p.m. - 5 p.m. CT - The #HTownTakeover arrived in Newport, R.I. and quickly went to work with a few photo shoots and on-camera interview spots.

9 a.m. CT - Departed Hobby Airport for Newport, RI with seniors Matthew Adams and Steven Dunbar enjoying the private charter.

The 2017 American Athletic Conference Summer Kickoff and Media Days presented by NAPA Auto Parts will have two live days of coverage of events in Newport, Rhode Island, on July 17-18, at Gurney’s Newport Resort and Spa.

Both shows will be available on Facebook (Facebook.com/AmericanConf) and YouTube (YouTube.com/AmericanAthleticConf), with highlights shared via The American’s twitter account, @American_FB.

Live coverage of both events will kick off with a one-hour program Monday, July 17, at 6 p.m. CT from the site of the event’s New England-style clambake. The American’s Hali Oughton will be joined by longtime television analyst Andy Katz for interviews with coaches, student-athletes and dignitaries as they arrive at the clambake, with the backdrop of a waterfront sunset.

Houston Football fans will have the opportunity to follow the 2017 American Football Media Days via Houston's social media realms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat.

Fans can watch live coverage of Tuesday's Coaches panels by visiting theamerican.org/Watch. The ADN will also be producing original video pieces from the event as well as interviews with players and coaches that will appear on its digital channels throughout the football season.

Tuesday's Schedule: Verne Lundquist will introduce commissioner Mike Aresco at 8 a.m. CT and will moderate a pair of roundtable discussions - a session with the East Division coaches at 8:45 a.m. CT, and a segment with the West Division coaches at 10 a.m. CT ... Hali Oughton and Andy Gresh will anchor the Tuesday coverage.

Houston Football will send three representatives to Newport, R.I. to represent the Cougars at the 2017 Media Days, presented by Napa Auto Parts on July 17-18.

Joining Head Coach Major Applewhite will be senior linebacker Matthew Adams and senior wide receiver Steven Dunbar.

The two student-athletes and Applewhite will have the opportunity to speak to national media and the American Athletic Conference over the two-day event.
