HOUSTON Houston’s Deontay Greenberry was named to the watch list for the Fred Biletnikoff Award, awarded annually to the nation’s top receiver, The Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation announced Tuesday.

The sophomore is Houston’s leading returning receiver as he pulled in 47 receptions for 569 yards and three touchdowns as a true freshman in 2012.

Named to the Conference USA All-Freshman team, Greenberry led the league’s freshmen with his 47 receptions and 569 yards and trailed just teammate Larry McDuffey for the lead league for receiving touchdowns by a freshman.

Greenberry is one of just three receivers from The American Athletic Conference to be named to the watch list, joining Rutgers’ Brandon Coleman and Louisville’s DeVante Parker.

The Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation will announce the ten Biletnikoff Award semifinalists on November 18, 2013, following the vote by the Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee. Likewise, the three finalists will be declared, following another vote, on November 25, 2013.

Greenberry is the third Houston player to appear on a national award’s preseason watch list, joining center Bryce Redman (Rimington Trophy) and punter Richie Leone (Ray Guy Award).
