Two Cougars Grab Preseason Honors

July 25, 2001

HOUSTON, Texas---A pair of Houston Cougar junior football standouts were selected to the Conference USA Preseason All-Conference squad, as it was announced by the league.

Defensive back Hanik Milligan and wide receiver Brian Robinson were selected to the C-USA team by the conference's head coaches.

Milligan is one of four returning starters in the Cougar defensive secondary, and the former junior-college standout is the Cougars' leading returnee in both interceptions (five) and tackles (87). Last season, which was his first in the Red and White, Milligan started all 11 games at free safety.

As for Robinson, 2000 proved to be a breakout season for him as well. The native of Daytona Beach, Fla., led the Cougars in receptions with 80 for 890 yards and six touchdowns. He was selected Second Team All-Conference USA for his performance last season, which included five games with at least 10 receptions and four which topped the 100-yard plateau. He was fifth in the nation with 7.18 receptions per game, despite missing the majority of both the Texas and SMU contests.

Robinson combined with fellow wide out KeyKowa Bell to form one of Division I-A's most potent receiving tandems. Robinson and Bell head into the 2001 campaign as the nation's top returning receiving duo.

Both Milligan and Robinson are due to report with the veteran teammates on Wednesday, August 8 to start the 2001 Fall Camp.
