Aug. 5, 2008

HOUSTON - Single-game tickets for the 2008 University of Houston Football season are now on sale at the Athletics Ticket Office.

Single-game tickets for both home and away games can be purchased at the Athletics Ticket Office or by calling 713-GO-COOGS during regular business hours, Monday through Friday.

Fans always can purchase tickets 24 hours a day, seven days a week, by logging onto UHCougars.com and clicking the Tickets link.

"This promises to be an exciting season for the Cougar Football program," director of athletics Dave Maggard said. "You will not want to miss the exciting and wide open style of play that head coach Kevin Sumlin and his staff will bring to Robertson Stadium."

The Cougars open their season on at 6 p.m., Aug. 30, when they play host to Southern on John O'Quinn Field at Robertson Stadium.

The remaining home schedule includes a non-conference showdown against Air Force (Sept. 13) with Conference USA games against UAB (Oct. 9), Tulane (Nov. 8, Homecoming), Tulsa (Nov. 15) and UTEP (Nov. 22).

"The atmosphere around Robertson Stadium with the tailgating and special themes for every game is more than worth the price of admission," Maggard said. "This is the best entertainment buy in the state of Texas."

On the road, the Cougars face Oklahoma State (Sept. 6) and Colorado State (Sept. 20) in non-conference tilts with C-USA games against East Carolina (Sept. 27), SMU (Oct. 18), Marshall (Oct. 28) and Rice (Nov. 29).

The Cougars reported to the Athletics/Alumni Center on Sunday for the start of training camp with their first workout Monday evening.

On Sunday, the team will take part in Fan Appreciation Day at the Yeoman Fieldhouse inside the Athletics/Alumni Center. Doors are scheduled to open at 12:45 p.m. with a pep rally slated to start around 1 p.m.

Fans are invited to get autographs and take photos with the Cougar players and members of the coaching staff who will be on hand.
