Game Themes Set for 2014 Houston Football Home Games

Aug. 14, 2014

HOUSTON - The University of Houston Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced its game themes for all seven Houston Football home games this season, beginning with the inaugural game in TDECU Stadium history at 8 p.m., Aug. 29, as the Cougars host I-10 foe, UTSA.

The inaugural game, presented by Memorial Hermann, will be Houston’s Red Out as the Cougars welcome home all UH fans, alumni and supporters and encourage all fans to wear red and show a national TV audience the excitement that Houston fans create.

Houston’s second game vs. Grambling State at 7 p.m., Sept. 6, is its Faith, Family & Football game sponsored by Houston Community Newspapers. Families and local faith-based organizations are invited to attend the game with special group rates available starting at just $21. Families are reminded that Memorial Hermann Family Plans, which include two adult season tickets and two youth season tickets, can be purchased for just $299.

The third home game of the season vs. UNLV on Sept. 20 is Houston’s Youth Day and Los Coogs Day sponsored by Coca-Cola. The day will feature an emphasis on activities for both Houston’s youngest fans and the Latin community.

The nationally-televised Thursday, Oct. 2, game vs. UCF sponsored by Data Foundry is the 2014 Salute to Service/Heroes Day for the Cougars. A field-sized American flag will greet Houston fans prior to the game as the Cougars pay homage to those American heroes who have served their country and communities.

Houston returns home on Friday, Oct. 17, to take on Temple in the Cougars for the Cure and Health & Fitness Day. Pink will be a prevalent color in the stands of TDECU Stadium as the Cougars look to support the ongoing fight against Breast Cancer.

All alumni are invited back to campus on Saturday, Nov. 8, as Houston faces Tulane in the 69th edition of homecoming. More details regarding festivities surrounding the Homecoming game, sponsored by TDECU, will be released at later dates by the University of Houston, the University of Houston Alumni Association and the University of Houston Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.

The Cougars close out the season on Saturday, Nov. 22, vs. Tulsa on Fan Appreciation, All UH and Senior Day, sponsored by ICON. Houston’s senior class will be honored prior to kickoff while select faculty and staff from the UH campus and selected season ticket holders are honored throughout the game.
