Houston, Texas -
Fresh off another 300-yard passing performance, University of Houston junior quarterback Case Keenum was named an honorable mention Performer of the Week by the College Football Performance Awards.
Keenum began his junior year the same way he started his sophomore campaign: passing for over 300 yards and leading the Cougars in a romp, this time 55-7 over Northwestern State. In a little over two quarters of action, Keenum completed 23-of-30 passes for 359 yards and four touchdowns. He also tacked on a seven-yard touchdown run to account for five TDs on the evening. The 300-yard effort was the 14th in his last 15 games at quarterback for the Cougars.
Notre Dame wide receiver Michael Floyd was the National Performer of the Week for his performance in week one.
The goal of the College Football Performance Awards: The goal of the College Football Performance Awards is to provide the most scientifically rigorous conferments in college football. CFPA recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams. As many scholars have noted, CFPA eliminates the politics and biases that vitiate the college football awards process. Renown sports ethicist Gordon Marino states, "The biases in the (balloting-based) college football awards process are behemoth." National Security Agency Science Consultant Amy Langville writes, "A rigorous scientific methodology such as CFPA is a welcome addition for fans and players demanding equity in sports awards." And philosopher Paul Studtmann adds, "CFPA finally answers the question everyone is really asking: Who are the top performers in college football?"
