    COACH DANA DIMEL

On last week's game against Army
Obviously, I wasn't pleased with the way that we played in the first half. We were actually behind 10-0 with 12:10 left in the ball game and I was a little concerned. Our football team had been practicing extremely well and then we came out in the latter part of last week and had a couple of practices that weren't usual practices for us and our football team performed the same way. So it was a good learning experience for our team in showing that you play only as well as you practice. This week I thought we matured again as a football team, and through the maturation process, we also picked up a win. That's what it's all about.

On this week's game against Texas
This week is the week that we need to get our football team to play well and aggressively for all four quarters of the game. Our defense needs to start to create turnovers and they need to put some points on the board like our offense has done for them in the first three ball games. It's important that we come together as a group and to play a really good defensive game. Offensively, we need more consistency. Our offense has been very productive, but not very efficient. We are moving the ball up and down the field, but we're not efficient as far as putting points up on the board and that's what the game is all about.

On Texas' road loss last week
The down side of it from our perspective is that they are now going to be refocused as a football team. On the other hand, it also shows that there is some vulnerability there as well. Everybody needs to understand that in college football, on any given Saturday, any body can win. There isn't anybody in the country that's invincible by any means. Our football team understands that we can play and beat any football team in the country and it's time for us to start doing that.

    EMILE WHITE

    On defending against the Texas
We are pretty much going to stick with same things that we've been doing all year against every other quarterback. If we stay focused and make sure we do the little thing that count, then we will be successful.

I'm pretty impressed with their receivers. All of them ran track and this should be more speed than we've seen in the past three games. They have a great running game as well as a great passing game. As far as quarterbacks, it really doesn't matter which quarterback they play because both of them can get the job done. Which ever one they start, I just want to get to him before he throws the ball. I'm going to be very active. I'm going to be all over the line trying to get different looks so that I can see how he adjusts in certain situations and then get there when I can.

    On the interstate rivalry
Growing up, all I ever heard about were the more known Texas schools like Texas and Texas A&M. I think that it's time that people know about the talent that we have right here in Houston instead of those other schools. This game means a lot to us. A win at Texas means that Houston will finally be on the map.

    QB JASON MCKINLEY

On playing in his hometown of Austin
"Being from Austin, everything is like a homecoming for me in my last year (of college football). I have a lot of friends that go to school there and my family is there, so I'm excited about going back there and playing."

    Playing in Memorial Stadium
"I've never played there before and I'm excited about it. It's great to go and play in a place like that, like LSU. It's the whole atmosphere and the way everybody comes out before the game. We're real excited about playing there."

On what to expect going into game at Texas "They've got a great defense, they're big and strong, and we just need to go in there and continue to execute. We've been moving the ball well, we just need to put more points on the board."

    On studying Texas' team
"At the same time we can go back and see that those guys are human and that they do have some weaknesses. We can study them (weaknesses) on film and take advantage of those."

    On winning at Texas
"It'd be great, going into Texas and winning. Like Coach said, I think it would help our recruiting immensely in the state of Texas. And any time you get a chance to play a top 25 team it's exciting and it's a great opportunity for us."

On thinking Texas may be coming stronger after loss at Stanford
"I think they're going to have a good week of practice. Of course, they didn't expect to lose to Stanford, and I'm sure they're going to be re-focused and I'm sure we're going to have a great week of practice and be ready for them."

Winning over Army and team confidence
"I think it helps the whole attitude of the team. You get the first win under your belt and in the way that we lost the first two, we felt that we were right on the verge and could have won either of those two. If you walk around practice, you can tell that the attitude is just different."

    How to approach Texas
"I think we have to step it up a notch from what we did last week. I think we had too many turnovers, gave them good field position and we gave them a couple touchdowns. I don't think we can do that against a team like Texas."

On Texas putting pressure on McKinley
"They bring outside blitzes and inside blitzes, and I'm sure, like every team you play especially early in the season, they're going to have something new for you. So we're just getting ready and try to scheme to what blitzes we think they're going to try to use."

    RB JOFFREY REYNOLDS

What to expect going into hostile territory like Memorial Stadium
"We went into LSU and that was very hostile territory. When you get that experience, you just have to be in tune with the team and make sure the quarterback knows that everybody knows what's going on and that everybody's on the same page. It's no problem, really. Once you get playing, you're playing."

How it felt to be named C-USA Offensive Player of the Week
"It felt really good because for a couple games I didn't have the type of games that I really wanted to have. Under the circumstances maybe we couldn't run the ball as much, but we're now finally putting it together. I don't think of it as me being player of the weekthe whole team really helped me out in that."

On the team's confidence after the win over Army last week
"When you go 0-3 you always have that in the back of your head. But now that we have a win, especially go in against a team like Texas and in the way that we won against Army, that we can overcome anything and come back and win. I think the win has been very big for us."

Make a difference playing Texas at 1-1 vs 2-0
"Texas is going to be good, whether they are 0-3 or 0-2 or 1-1. They have good talent. There is always an opportunity for them to be good any day. I think us coming off a win, it really builds us up.they have a lot of good players, but we have some pretty good players here, too. If we come out and minimize our mistakes and do what we are supposed to do, I think we can come out alright."

    CB BACHIE McGRUDER

On playing for UH under Coach Dimel
"It's been great. It was between U of H and Wyoming when I was being recruited and even went on a recruiting trip up to Wyoming and have known Coach Dimel for a while."

    On going to Texas
"Going down to Austin to play, it's a hostile environment but we've played in hostile environments before like Death Valley for LSU and we seem to play better in hostile environments."

    On getting the first win
"It's a really big thing because as a team, we had a feeling of wanting that and we've had that feeling ever since the spring, summer and now that we've finally gotten the monkey off our back, it feels a little better."

On being a challenge this week in stopping the young receivers for Texas
"It's more of a challenge in stopping a freshman than a veteran because freshmen, they don't have anything to lose. They're looking forward to the next three years, so they just go out and play and have fun. They're not looking at it like a business or paying the bills. They still love the game. That's not to say that once you've matured and have played college football for four years that you don't have a love for the game, but basically at that point it's a business."
