We're final! Cougars win an exciting game 31-26

Rice blocks Leone's 40-yard field goal attempt and takes it 68 yards for a touchdown. Two-point conversion is no good and we're getting set for an onside kick.

Rice misses a 50-yard field goal attempt and UH will take over with 4:27 left in the 4Q leading 31-20

    Today's attendance is 34,831

Rice scores on a one-yard rushing touchdown by McHargue. UH leads 31-20 with 10:52 left. UH held Rice without a score for 10-straight posessions.

Touchdown, Houston! Levine pulls the trigger on 4th-and-3 and O'Korn connects on a wheel route to Ryan Jackson and the Cougars are pulling away with a 31-13 lead. First time in Jackson's career he has caught and rushed for a touchdown.

Third quarter belonged to the UH defense. Rice managed three three-and-outs and only 23 yards on 15 plays.

Three-straight three-and-outs for Rice. Harris and Bowser blow up the option.

Damian Payne with a great return of 31 yards, and a great block from Thomas Bates on the edge to spring him loose. UH ball on the Rice 39.

Houston goes up 24-13as O'Korn rolls right and finds Greenberry in the end zone for a 28-yard touchdown. First multiple-touchdown game of Greenberry's career, and second straigh 100+ yard game of the season.

Tyus Bowser has been the Player of the Game so far - forces another pressure and Rice goes 3-and-out. Tyler High School is representing very nicely today between he and Greg Ward.

Houston forces a three-and-out on Rice's first possession of the second half. Rice went -8 yards on the drive. UH ball on their own 28.

Tyus Bowser ends another series with his seoncd (1.5) sack of the game. UH takes over on their own 15.

    First half stats:

Deontay Greenberry goes past the 100-yard mark for the second straight game. Houston calls a time out and O'Korn finds Daniel Spencer for a 25-yard touchdown with 0:05 left in the first half. Cougars take the lead 17-13.

Rice's Chris Boswell misses a 55-yard field goal. Houston takes over on their own 38 with 0:51 left in the first half.

Tyus Bowser having a heck of a first half. Forces a QB pressure on third down to get the three-and-out.

Cougars settle for a field goal after a 9-play, 70-yard drive and Richie Leone caps it off with a 24-yard field goal.

Tyus Bowser makes his first career interception and the Cougars force their second turnover of the game. That's three-straight games this year and 11-straight 2+ turnover games dating back to last year.

Greg Ward checks in at QB for this drive and completes a pass to Markeith Ambles, his first catch in a UH uniform. Greg Ward rips off a 28-yard run brining UH to the Rice 1-yard line.

End of the first quarter and UH forces a punt after the turnover. Two newcomers on the DL, Tyus Bowser and Trevor Harris, get after the Rice QB on third-and-long.

John O'Korn makes his first mistake of the game and throws Houston's first interception of the season.

Thomas Bates forces a turnover and Adrian McDonald makes it two straight games with a turnover as he recovers the all on the UH 39.

Greg Ward enters the game for John O'Korn and rushes for 19 yards on three plays before O'Korn reenters the game.

Rice answers with a nine-play drive 75-yard drive with Charles Ross scoring on a one-yard rush.

Third play from scrimmage in John O'Korn's first start goes for 61-yards to Deontay Greenberry, tying the receivers career high. No red zone problems thus far as Ryan Jackson punches it in from the one-yard line on the next play and UH takes the 7-6 lead.

Houston goes for the punt block and ends up getting called for a roughing the punter penalty. Two plays later, from the wildcat formation, Rice throws a 57-yard TD pass on a wheel route. Houston's B.J. Singleton blocks the extra point.

Rice wins the toss and elects to receive. Houston will defend the north end zone.
